In a system, a starter includes a motor for rotatably driving an output shaft with a pinion and an actuator that shifts the pinion toward a ring gear to be engaged with the ring gear. A monitor unit monitors a rotational speed of the internal combustion engine. The rotational speed of the internal combustion engine drops after an automatic control for stop of the engine. When an engine restart request occurs with the rotational speed being within a preset range during the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine dropping by the automatic control for stop of the engine, a drive unit drives the actuator to shift the pinion toward the ring gear to be engaged with the ring gear. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device for controlling automatic stop and restart of an engine of a vehicle for reducing fuel consumption which provides an excellent driving feeling and avoids wasteful fuel consumption by suppressing frequent repetition of stop and restart of the engine wastefully. SOLUTION: When the vehicle is in a decelerating state, fuel cut is executed to avoid wasting fuel while the rotation of the engine 1 is maintained by coupling a crankshaft 2 with an axle 11 by a lockup clutch 16 and the like. When a brake stepping amount thereafter is equal to or larger than a first predetermined value S1, it is estimated that the driver intends to stop the vehicle and a quick stop process of the engine rotation is executed except for the case of heavy braking. When the brake stepping amount during this process or after rotation stop decreases to equal to or smaller than a second predetermined value S2, it is estimated that the driver has intention for reacceleration of the vehicle, and fuel supply is resumed, a starter 7 is actuated and the engine 1 is rotated equal to or faster than a predetermined engine speed. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is provided with a substrate, a lining layer formed on the substrate and made of a soft magnetic material, an in-plane magnetization layer formed on the lining layer and having in-plane magnetization, and a recording layer formed on the in-plane magnetization layer and having perpendicular magnetization, and characterized in that the in-plane direction coercive force of the in-plane magnetization layer is larger than a magnetic field generated by the perpendicular residual magnetization of the recording layer. By setting the in-plane direction coercive force of the in-plane magnetization layer larger than the perpendicular residual magnetization of the recording layer, the influence of the mirror image effect of the soft magnetic lining layer on a reproduction output at the recording density of a wide range is reduced. Thus, resolution is improved by reducing a difference between the reproduction outputs of the magnetic recording media of low recording density and high recording density. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt transmission system which can prevent slipping of a belt without increasing the initial tension thereof when an accessory is driven by an engine, and which can prevent the belt from slacking due to aging effect or variation in environment. SOLUTION: This belt transmission device comprises a first automatic tensioner 7 and a second automatic tensioner 8 which can adjust the tension of a belt. The first automatic tensioner 7 has an idler pulley 7a located on the slacking side of the belt 6 with respect to a pulley 5 of an accessory module, and the second automatic tensioner 8 has an idle pulley 8a located between the pulley 5 of the accessory module and a crank pulley 1. It is noted that the idler pulley 8a of the second automatic tensioner 8 is set to be stationary in order to prevent lowering of the degree of belt tension which is required for transmitting a starting torque of the accessory module during a start of an engine, to the crank pulley 1.

SOLUTION: This automatic stop/start control device for an engine includes a second restart control means which, when a restart is requested for an engine in a second rotational speed range (N1≥Ne>N2), rotatingly drives a pinion by a motor until the rotational speed of a ring gear is higher than that of a pinion and a difference in rotational speed between the ring gear and the pinion is equal to or less than a predetermined value, and starts the cranking of the engine by the starter for restarting the engine since when a one-way clutch is locked, after running idle, due to a reduction in the rotational speed of the ring gear and an increase in the rotational speed of the pinion, and a power is transmitted from the motor to the pinion.
