Journal ArticleDOI

Nanofibrous microfiltration membranes capable of removing bacteria, viruses and heavy metal ions

TL;DR: A novel class of microfiltration membrane, based on a two-layered nanoscale polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/microscale polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibrous scaffold containing infused ultra-fine functional cellulose nanofibers, was demonstrated, which can simultaneously remove bacteria, viruses and/or toxic heavy metal ions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanofiltration membranes prepared by interfacial polymerization on thin-film nanofibrous composite scaffold

TL;DR: In this paper, two interfacial polymerization pathways (termed IP and IP-R) were investigated regarding the arrangement of the aqueous and organic phases, and it was found that the denser part of the barrier layer was on the cellulose nanofibers (CN) surface, whereas this portion was deeply immersed in the polyamide layer of IP-based membranes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Correct determination of crystal lamellar thickness in semicrystalline poly(ethylene terephthalate) by small-angle X-ray scattering

TL;DR: In this paper, a gel-crystallization method from oligomeric poly (ethylene glycol) solution was used to prepare samples with high crystallinity (57%) by using simultaneous synchrotron SAXS and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

High flux ethanol dehydration using nanofibrous membranes containing graphene oxide barrier layers

TL;DR: In this paper, pristine multilayered graphene oxide (GO) was coated by established methods onto a thin-film nanofibrous composite (TFNC) mat to form a high flux membrane for ethanol dehydration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanofibrous ultrafiltration membranes containing cross-linked poly(ethylene glycol) and cellulose nanofiber composite barrier layer

TL;DR: In this article, a thin-film nanofibrous composite (TFNC) format with a nanocomposite barrier layer made of cross-linked poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) matrix and ultra-fine cellulose (CN, ∼5nm in diameter) was demonstrated.
