Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and properties of carboxymethyl cellulose/soy protein isolate blend edible films crosslinked by Maillard reactions

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of CMC content on blend structure, thermal stability, water solubility and water sorption, and mechanical properties were systematically investigated, and the results indicated that the structure and properties of soy protein isolate (SPI) were modified and improved by blending with CMC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical models for supercritical fluid extraction

TL;DR: The broken and intact cell model seems to be the most relevant mathematical model as it is able to provide realistic description of the plant material structure for better understanding the mass-transfer kinetics and thus it has been widely employed for modeling supercritical fluid extraction of natural matters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of ultrafine aspirin particles through rapid expansion of supercritical solutions (RESS)

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of the Rapid Expansion from Supercritical Solution (RESS) technology was evaluated through the analysis of the particle characteristics, and the results showed that extraction pressure and extraction temperature can significantly affect the morphology and size of the precipitated particles whereas the nozzle diameter and preexpansion temperature are not observed to apparently influence the RESS particles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multilayer poly(vinyl alcohol)-zeolite 4A composite membranes for ethanol dehydration by means of pervaporation

TL;DR: In this paper, Zeolite 4A has been employed to prepare polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based composite membranes for ethanol-water pervaporation separation, and the effect of feed composition, feed temperature and zeolite loading on the membrane separation performance is discussed in detail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Moisture sorption and water vapor permeability of soy protein isolate/poly(vinyl alcohol)/glycerol blend films

TL;DR: In this article, the moisture sensitivity of films of soy protein isolate (SPI) blended with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and plasticized with glycerol was investigated.
