Journal ArticleDOI
EC50 estimation of antioxidant activity in DPPH· assay using several statistical programs.
TL;DR: In this study, the EC(50) estimation was performed using a comparative approach based on various regression models implemented in six specialized computer programs: GraphPad Prism® version 5.01, BLeSq, OriginPro® 8.5, SigmaPlot® 12, BioDataFit® 1.02, and IBM SPSS Statistics® Desktop 19.0.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radical scavenging and antimicrobial activities of Croton zehntneri, Pterodon emarginatus and Schinopsis brasiliensis essential oils and their major constituents: estragole, trans-anethole, β-caryophyllene and myrcene
Maddalena Donati,Andrea Mondin,Zheng Chen,Fabrício Mendes Miranda,Baraquizio Braga do Nascimento,Giulia Schirato,Paolo Pastore,Guglielmina Froldi +7 more
TL;DR: All EOs showed low activities against the bacterial strains tested, whereas the C. zehntneri oil and its main constituent estragole exhibited an appreciable antifungal activity against C. parapsilosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Croton lechleri sap and isolated alkaloid taspine exhibit inhibition against human melanoma SK23 and colon cancer HT29 cell lines.
Monica Montopoli,Riccardo Bertin,Zheng Chen,Jenny Bolcato,Laura Caparrotta,Guglielmina Froldi +5 more
TL;DR: The data showed that Croton lechleri and taspine could inhibit cell proliferation with higher potency against melanoma SK23 cells, supporting the empirical use of the sap as anticancer in ethnomedicine and tspine as a possible anticancer agent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activity of myricetin and other plant-derived polyhydroxyl compounds in human LDL and human vascular endothelial cells against oxidative stress
Riccardo Bertin,Zheng Chen,Raffaella Marin,Maddalena Donati,Angela Feltrinelli,Monica Montopoli,Sabina Zambon,Enzo Manzato,Guglielmina Froldi +8 more
TL;DR: Results indicate myricetin as the most active agent among the selected plant-derived polyhydroxyl compounds, with prominent capacities against ox-LDL and ROS production in HUVEC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vasodilation and radical-scavenging activity of imperatorin and selected coumarinic and flavonoid compounds from genus Casimiroa.
Riccardo Bertin,Zheng Chen,Mariano Martínez-Vázquez,Aída Nelly García-Argáez,Guglielmina Froldi +4 more
TL;DR: Among the evaluated compounds, imperatorin shows a significant vasorelaxant activity even higher than acetylcholine and similar to nitrite, and also useful antiradical capabilities, which suggest its possible role against hypertension and vasculopathies.
