Journal ArticleDOI

Production and characterization of a bioflocculant by Proteus mirabilis TJ-1.

TL;DR: A bioflocculant TJ-F1 with high flocculating activity, produced by strain TJ-1 from a mixed activated sludge, was investigated with regard to its production and characterization and indicated the presence of carboxyl, hydroxyl and amino groups preferred for the flocculation process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production and application of a novel bioflocculant by multiple-microorganism consortia using brewery wastewater as carbon source.

TL;DR: MMF1 was identified as a macromolecular substance containing both protein and polysaccharide that showed good flocculating performance in treating indigotin printing and dyeing wastewater, and the maximal removal efficiencies of COD and chroma were 79.2% and 86.5%, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhancement of aerobic granulation and nutrient removal by an algal–bacterial consortium in a lab-scale photobioreactor

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the algal–bacterial consortium was conducive to accelerating aerobic granulation, enhancing system stability and improving nutrient removal efficiency in a lab-scale photobioreactor treating synthetic domestic wastewater.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microalgal-bacterial consortia: From interspecies interactions to biotechnological applications

TL;DR: The most recent work on microalgal-bacterial interaction mechanisms is recapitulates, and the diverse biotechnological applications of microalGal-b bacterial consortia are described, which include wastewater treatment, biomass harvesting, and electricity generation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of quorum quenching on the reactor performance, biofouling and biomass characteristics in membrane bioreactors

TL;DR: Results showed that quorum quenching influenced sludge characteristics and biofouling, while not impacting pollutant degradation, and influenced the characteristics, behavior and function of SMP and EPS, which weakened biofilm formation ability but enhanced membrane filterability.
