Evolution processes of the corrosion behavior and structural characteristics of plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings on AZ31 magnesium alloy

TL;DR: In this article, the evolution processes of the corrosion behavior and structural characteristics of the PEO coated AZ31 magnesium alloy were investigated by using scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), XRD, potentio-dynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectrograph (EIS) measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of the coating/substrate interface of plasma electrolytic oxidation coated aluminum

TL;DR: In this article, the front view and fracture cross-section morphologies of the coating/substrate (C/S) interface were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the results show that the C/S interface layer consists of interconnected tiny globular particles during the PEO process.
Journal ArticleDOI

The correlation between the coating structure and the corrosion behavior of the plasma electrolytic oxidation coating on aluminum

TL;DR: In this paper, two kinds of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coatings with different microstructures were fabricated on AA1060 pure aluminum in two different electrolytes, respectively, and the electrochemical behavior of the coatings was evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in a long term immersion in 3.5% NaCl solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of (NaPO3)6 effects and mechanisms during micro-arc oxidation of AZ31 magnesium alloy

TL;DR: In this article, the results show that (NaPO 3 ) 6 concentration significantly influences the initial passive film and hence the voltage rise rate and microdischarges, and the corrosion resistance of the samples decreases with an increase of NaPO 3 6 concentration due to complex evolution in the micro-discharges and the microstructures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Corrosion behaviors and effects of corrosion products of plasma electrolytic oxidation coated AZ31 magnesium alloy under the salt spray corrosion test

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of corrosion products on corrosion behaviors of AZ31 magnesium alloy with a plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coating were investigated under the salt spray corrosion test (SSCT).
