Assessing the groundwater dynamics and impacts of water saving in the Hetao Irrigation District, Yellow River basin

TL;DR: In this article, a lumped parameter groundwater balance model has been developed with this purpose and to assess impacts of various water-saving practices, such as canal lining, upgrading the hydraulic regulation and control structures, improving delivery schedules, and adjusting cropping patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of salinization dynamics by remote sensing in Hetao Irrigation District of North China

TL;DR: In this paper, the spatial and temporal distributions of soil salinization of Jiefangzha Irrigation Sub-district, the western part of Hetao irrigation district of Inner Mongolia in northern China, were determined through analysis of satellite-based remote sensing images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Integration of SWAP and MODFLOW-2000 for modeling groundwater dynamics in shallow water table areas

TL;DR: In this article, a Soil Water-Atmosphere-Plant (SWAP) package was integrated into a groundwater flow model (MODFLOW) in such a way that the SWAP package calculates vertical flux for MODFLOW, while MOD FLOW provides averaged water table depth to determine the bottom boundary condition for SWAP zones.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using MODFLOW and GIS to Assess Changes in Groundwater Dynamics in Response to Water Saving Measures in Irrigation Districts of the Upper Yellow River Basin

TL;DR: In this article, an integrated methodology was developed adopting loose coupling of the groundwater flow model MODFLOW with ArcInfo Geographic Information System to assess the impacts of irrigation water-saving practices and groundwater abstraction foreseen for the year of 2020 on the groundwater dynamics of the Jiefangzha Irrigation System (JFIS) in Hetao irrigation district, upper Yellow River basin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of biochar addition on soil properties and water-fertilizer productivity of tomato in semi-arid region of Inner Mongolia, China

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of biochar addition on soil properties, water and fertilizer productivity of tomato in semi-arid area of Inner Mongolia, China, and concluded that biochar is an appropriate rate for tomato production in the study area.
