Ease of use and usefulness are believed to be fundamental in determining the acceptance and use of various, corporate ITs. These beliefs, however, may not explain the user’s behavior toward newly emerging ITs, such as the World-Wide-Web (WWW). In this study, we introduce playfulness as a new factor that reflects the user’s intrinsic belief in WWW acceptance. Using it as an intrinsic motivation factor, we extend and empirically validate the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for the WWW context. # 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Ubiquitous Network Society (UNS) is viewed as the next general Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development destination by many developed countries (regions). And many countries such as China are following the successful cases to develop UNS strategy. Firstly, the content, characteristics, and significance together with strategic framework of UNS in the developed countries (regions) were analyzed. Then, the concept of Ubiquitous Public Service Network (UPSN) was put forward and it was pointed out that the key to UNS lied in UPSN. In the meantime, it analyzed the role of UPSN for realizing the function of UNS strategy, Based on the analysis of UNS experience of developed countries (regions) and the existing problems in the Chinese informatization, the concrete suggestions for developing UPSN were proposed from five aspects, which were establishing a long-term investment mechanism in building, operating and managing UPSN, expanding UPSN's coverage rapidly, strengthening the training of information technology application pragmatically and arouse people's initiation, strengthening the integration of information resources to improve the service efficiency of UPSN, and enhancing the management of UPSN.

Ubiquitous Public Service Network (UPSN): the critical path to Ubiquitous Network Society (UNS) for China

As the driving force behind the economic growth of China, Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) are shaping the ways for both public sector and private sector. Emerging economies like China are powering the growth in their regions. However, very little research was conducted on the ICT adoption and usage in the rural area, especially from the public sector. This research-in-progress paper introduces the Ubiquitous Public Service Network (UPSN) and its application in the rural area of China. This research follows a mixed of quantitate and qualitative research method. A survey with open ended question interview was developed based on the framework and 727 samples from 52 villages in Ningbo were collected from 2012-2013. Quantitate data from Rural Comprehensive Information Service Station (RCISS) in Ningbo was also collected. This paper proposes a framework of and policy implications for the sustainable IT development of rural China.

The “Ubiquitous Subject-Ubiquitous Connection-System” Analysis Framework for the Innovation Environment in the Context of Ubiquitous Network

Ubiquitous Network Society (UNS) is viewed as the next general ICT development destination by many technologically advanced countries. Succeeding countries such as China are now assessing how to embrace the advent of ubiquitous era. This paper examines this issue from Chinapsilas technological perspective. Characteristic of UNS is identified and reviewed from technology acceptation and adoption perspective. We study technology framework of UNS is from three perspectives: Wireless Communication Network, Perception Technology and Ubiquitous Computing. The underlying objective of this paper is to understand U-Readiness efforts in China from a technological perspective. Non-technology readiness are discussed from social implications, market foundation and government police perspectives.
