TL;DR: In this article, Toxicity test of Hydrocarbon Exposure on Lepironia articulate in Phytoremediation Process is used to evaluate the effectiveness of phytoextraction, phytodegradation, rhizofiltration and phytostabilization.
Abstract: Environmental hazards and the high cost of some conventional treatment processes have produced economic pressure and caused engineers to investigate for creative, cost effective and environmentally ways to control water pollution. Phytoremediation could be a sustainable remediation alternative for conventional remediation technologies [1]. It has several advantages e.g., it can be applied in situ over large areas, with low cost and the soil does not undergo significant damage [2]. This green technique is also easily accepted and often welcomed by the general public due to its significant improvement of the impacted landscape. It offers an appealing option to managers of remediation projects and is frequently listed as the best available technology to remediate contaminated sites [3]. The ability of plants to remove contaminants from the environment has been recognized and has been taken advantage of for its applications, such as land farming of waste [4]. Phytodegradation uses plants and microorganisms to break down organic pollutants in situ [5]. It includes several processes, namely, phytoextraction, phytodegradation, rhizofiltration, phytostabilization and phytovolatilization [2,6]. This technology is Toxicity Test of Hydrocarbon Exposure on Lepironia articulate in Phytoremediation Process

24 Jan 2021TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined EFL university teachers' reasons for engagement in research and the barriers that impede them from doing research and concluded that lack of time, absence of access to up-to-date books and journals and lack of encouragement and motivation are the main obstacles that limit their engagement.
Abstract: This study aimed to investigate EFL university teachers’ engagement in research. It examined EFL university teachers’ reasons for engagement in research and the barriers that impede them from doing research. It covered both the engagement and the reluctance aspects of the issue. The data were collected from 24 EFL university teachers through the modality of questionnaire. The results suggested that the teachers had moderate to low level engagement in research. The teachers’ main reasons for doing research revolved around the significance of research in developing their professional career, how doing research could improve their teaching and research skills, and how it could give them professional promotions. The results also showed that lack of time, absence of access to up-to-date books and journals and lack of encouragement and motivation are the main obstacles that limit their engagement in research. Understanding these issues, the study ended with suggestions and recommendations for policy makers, institutions authorities and teachers to make EFL contexts convenient for teacher engagement in research.

01 Jan 2015TL;DR: In this article, the effect of film cooling over flat plate is investigated using the commercial CD code; Fluent 6.3, and the results show that the increase of blowing ratio negatively affects film cooling, such that for the blowing ratio of 1.67 the injected coolant tends to lift off from the wall due to an increase of the wall normal momentum.
Abstract: The effect of film cooling over flat plate is investigated using the commercial CD code; Fluent 6.3. The computational domain includes the coolant supply tube as well as the main mixing region. A tube L/D of 4 and injection angles of (30 o , 60 o , and 90 o ) were employed for blowing ratio of (0.33, 0.5, and 1.67), and a density ratio of 1.14. Adiabatic film cooling effectiveness distributions were also determined for inline and staggered arrangements. The main observation from this study that the 30 o hole gave larger effectiveness values than 60 o and 90 o at the blowing ratio of 0.33 with the same length-to-diameter ratio. The maximum effectiveness was achieved with a blowing ratio of 0.5. The results show that the increase of blowing ratio negatively affects film cooling, such that for the blowing ratio of 1.67 the injected coolant tends to lift off from the wall due to the increase of the wall normal momentum. The comparisons for numerical results with experimental data are presented.
