TL;DR: It is concluded that population-based studies of disease occurrence and health behavior are needed to better evaluate the health needs of the population for the planning of additional drug retailers in Addis Ababa's suburban districts.

TL;DR: The study was undertaken to establish whether significant methaemoglobin concentrations were generated during the infusion and whether these concentrations could be related to the corresponding methylene blue concentrations.
Abstract: Recently, a family tree with a predisposition for the gene of multiple endocrine neoplasia Type 1 has been identified in Tasmania. As the surgical identification and localisation of parathyroid adenomas is facilitated by the administration of methylene blue, an opportunity has presented to measure the plasma concentration of methylene blue and methaemoglobin production. The study was undertaken to establish whether significant methaemoglobin concentrations were generated during the infusion and whether these concentrations could be related to the corresponding methylene blue concentrations. Mean peak methylene blue concentrations of 3.72 micrograms l-1, mean percentage methaemoglobin of 10.0 and a PaO2 within acceptable clinical ranges were found. No apparent relationship between methylene blue concentration and methaemoglobin production was found.

TL;DR: The beta blockers are a rapidly expanding class of drugs in both number of agents and clinical applications and familiarity with their pharmacologic mechanisms is useful to the health care practitioner in understanding their physiologic effects and predicting possible complications from their use.

TL;DR: Regular weighing is only a diagnostic tool, and for credibility it needs to be seen to be connected with health care and nutrition intervention programmes, in the form of food or nutrition education on the best use of available food.
Abstract: related to sale of goods, be it meat or other materials: they do not want to sell their children. Prejudices against weighing regularly appear to be restricted to certain pockets of the population. In fact in one of the blocks close to the one where this study was conducted people did not mind their children being weighed regularly. Though only one mother stated that there was no use in weighing a child, this also needs careful consideration. Regular weighing is only a diagnostic tool, and for credibility it needs to be seen to be connected with health care and nutrition intervention programmes, in the form of food or nutrition education on the best use of available food.

TL;DR: In this patient the SDC rose quickly after the dosage of nifedipine was reduced and diltiazem was begun, and the rate at which his SDC fell seems to indicate a component of redistribution (from serum to tissue) rather than just elimination.
Abstract: Figure I. SDC in relation to diltiazem administration; diltiazem-riifedipine-digoxin interaction. to serum) similar to that which occurs with quinidine.\" The rate at which his SDC fell (half-life-3I hours) after digoxin and diltiazem were stopped seems to indicate a component of redistribution (from serum to tissue) rather than just elimination. Reports on the mechanisms of the interaction between digoxin and diltiazem or nifedipine alone are conflicting. Yoshida et al. report no significant change in digoxin distribution with concurrent diltiazem,? yet the data reported by Yohtaro et al. indicate as much as a 48 percent reduction in the apparent volume of digoxin distribution after two weeks of diltiazem therapy.' Schrager et al. report no significant change in SDC early in the course of combined diltiazem (120-240 mg/d) and digoxin therapy.\" Kirch et al. report that the reduction in digoxin clearance caused by nifedipine alone is not dependent on the dosage of nifedipine; 10 however, in our patient the SDC rose quickly after the dosage of nifedipine was reduced and diltiazem was begun.
