TL;DR: The embryonic development of the viviparous Scorpion, Heterometrus fulvipes, has been followed throughout the gestation period and the successive stages of the developing embryos have been examined.
Abstract: The embryonic development of the viviparous scorpion, Heterometrus fulvipes, has been followed throughout the gestation period and the successive stages of the developing embryos have been examined. The morphological features of the embryos are also described and illustrated according to their approximate age.

TL;DR: Soils amended with organic amendments such as rice chaff, mustard cake, neem cake, saw dust and farm yard manure significantly reduced the seedling infection of rice owing to Rhizoctonia solani.
Abstract: Soils amended with organic amendments such as rice chaff, mustard cake, neem cake, saw dust and farm yard manure significantly reduced the seedling infection of rice owing toRhizoctonia solani. Significant increase in shoot growth was noticed in soils amended with organic amendments while reduction in root growth of rice seedlings was also observed owing to the addition of organic amendments such as sunflower cake, mustard cake, coconut cake and farmyard manure.

TL;DR: In this paper, a 2-unit cold standby system with two components and the life time of the components is s-dependent is presented, and the steady state probabilities and abailability are obtained without using Laplace transforms.
Abstract: This paper presents a 2-unit cold standby system in which each unit has two components and the life time of the components are s-dependent. Considering Marshall & Olkin bivariate exponential life and repair time distribution, we obtain the steady-state probabilities and the steady-state abailability without using Laplace transforms. The Assumptions of the model are given in this paper. The equations, analysis, and results are in a separately available Supplement [1].

TL;DR: Detailed observations on the pollen morphology which includes size and shape of grains, nature of aperture, type of sculpturing and exine thickness have been made have revealed the underlying similarity among the various genera considered here.
Abstract: Detailed observations on the pollen morphology which includes size and shape of grains, nature of aperture, type of sculpturing and exine thickness have been made on seven taxa of Flacourtiaceae. These observations reveal the underlying similarity among the various genera considered here.

TL;DR: A system consists of two machines M1 and M2 with a reserve inventory in between; an equation for the optimal reserve inventory is obtained under general distributions of working and failed times; the equation is generally intractable.
Abstract: A system consists of two machines M1 and M2 with a reserve inventory in between. M1, can be initially working or failed. An equation for the optimal reserve inventory is obtained under general distributions of working and failed times; the equation is generally intractable. The model is described in the paper. The derivation, results, and examples are given in a separately available Supplement.

TL;DR: Characteristics of the larval stages are described and compared with other known species of this genus and the time taken for development from hatching to glaucothoe is given.
Abstract: The development of the larvae of the marine hermit crabClihanarius clibanarius (Herbst) reared in the laboratory (salinity 34‰±1‰ and temperature 28°C ±1°C) is reported. Four zoeal stages and a glaucothoe were observed during development. Characteristics of the larval stages are described and compared with other known species of this genus. The time taken for development from hatching to glaucothoe is given.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Moire method of stress analysis has been successfully used for the study of transient stresses in a single point cutting tool during incipient cutting process and the observed variation of the maximum free rake tensile stresses during tool entry appear to be of importance from the point of view of brittle failure of tool-tip during entry or exit.

TL;DR: Some 660 species of coral ecosystem related fishes occur in Indian region as discussed by the authors, which include 93 species from Indo-Malayan mangroves, 38 species from South African mangrove, 29 species from Australasian Mangroves and 35 species from New World Mangrove.
Abstract: Some 660 species of coral ecosystem related fishes occur in Indian region. Coral formations of oceanic islands associated with mangroves (Andaman region in the Bay of Bengal) possess comparatively less number of coral fish species (292 spp.) than the coral formations devoid of mangroves (Laccadive region in Arabian Sea with 447 spp.). Of the 675 species of fishes reported from the world mangroves, about 160 species are coral fishes. They include 93 species from Indo-Malayan mangroves, 38 species from South African mangroves, 29 species from Australasian mangroves and 35 species from New World mangroves.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider a system with three subsystems A, B and C and present the joint Laplace-Stieltjes transforms of the up and down times.
Abstract: In this paper we consider a system which has three subsystems A, B and C. A and B are one unit systems and two unit systems respectively, and C is exposed to a damage process. The units of B have exponential life times. In model 1, A has a general life time and the damage process of C is Poisson and in model 2, A has an exponential life time and C is exposed to a renewal damage process. Introducing a repair facility which repairs all the failures one by one, this paper presents the joint Laplace-Stieltjes transforms of the ur> and down times. Marginal down time distributions an- calculated whon there exists a repair facility vor every damage.

TL;DR: Observations indicate that the corpus allatum controls the protein synthesis associated with oocyte maturation in Odontopus varicornis.
Abstract: The total haemolymph protein concentration inOdontopus varicornis (Dist.) during ovarian development and after allatectomy and ovariectomy is investigated. A fall in the haemolymph concentration is observed during vitellogenesis indicating the utilisation of the haemolymph protein for yolk formation in the oocytes. The haemolymph protein concentration remains low in the allatectomised females. It increases to high levels in the ovariectomised animals. These observations indicate that the corpus allatum controls the protein synthesis associated with oocyte maturation.
