TL;DR: In this paper, an equation correlating retention indices, boiling points and activity coefficients is proposed, which can be applied not only to homologous series, but also to different classes of hydrocarbons.

TL;DR: An inhibitor of glucose utilization in rat diaphragm was isolated from the serum of patients suffering from liver cirrhosis and is suggested to contribute to abnormal carbohydrate metabolism in liver diseases.
Abstract: An inhibitor of glucose utilization in rat diaphragm was isolated from the serum of patients suffering from liver cirrhosis. This inhibitor is suggested to contribute to abnormal carbohydrate metabolism in liver diseases. It is a low molecular weight substance, probably of pepticle nature. It is identical with the inhibitor of glucose utilization isolated from the serum and urine of patients with renal failure and from the urine of healthy subjects.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of electrical conductivity of the Earth's mantle on the non-stationary Ekman-Hartman hydromagnetic boundary layer is investigated under the conditions in the Earth core.
Abstract: The effect of the electrical conductivity of the Earth's mantle on the non-stationary Ekman-Hartman hydromagnetic boundary layer is investigated under the conditions in the Earth's core. It is shown that under an impulsive change of rotation of the mantle Alfven waves can only be excited if the Ekman-Hartman hydromagnetic boundary layer is in a non-stationary state, i.e. at a time when its structure is developing. The intensity of the Alfven waves is very small, because the excitation is more of a mechanic nature than magnetic.

TL;DR: In this article, the expansions of scattering amplitudes as functions of two complex variables are proposed, and the expansions converge in the whole analyticity region prescribed by the Mandelstam representation.

TL;DR: Rat brain cortex slices were incubated in diluted sera obtained from patients with renal failure and from healthy persons and it was found that uraemic sera inhibited glucose uptake and the incorporation of14C-D-glucose into aspartate, glutamate and gamma-aminobutyrate.
Abstract: Rat brain cortex slices were incubated in diluted sera obtained from patients with renal failure and from healthy persons. It was found that uraemic sera inhibited glucose uptake and the incorporation of14C-D-glucose into aspartate, glutamate and gamma-aminobutyrate (GABA). The concentration of these amino acids in the brain slices did not change.

TL;DR: The asymmetry of renal and urinary tract lesions in 50 children with urinary tract infection have been evaluated on the basis of scintiscans, taken by gammacamera and the results of X-ray examination, and also using a comparison of different number of impulses.
Abstract: The asymmetry of renal and urinary tract lesions in 50 children with urinary tract infection have been evaluated on the basis of scintiscans, taken by gammacamera and the results of X-ray examination, and also using a comparison of different number of impulses, taken from both right and left sides. A significant asymmetry increasing with the time has been found. The evaluation of scintiscans allowed results to be judged qualitatively and quantitatively. The parenchyma lesions and asymmetry in accordance with sides have been detected almost with the same frequency, using comparison of the sequential scintigraphy with excretory urography. The X-ray examination has presented the ureteric atony or dilatation more frequently. The gamma camera examination intercepted the asymmetry of particular parts of renal tissue substantially more frequently and has warned at urine stasis in the efferent urinary tract still before the morphological X-ray changes had been developed.

TL;DR: A surgical procedure is described which corrects strictures of the posterior urethra, based on marsupialization of the stricture by an inlay graft of the scrotal skin and on recontsruction of the urethRA in a second stage.
Abstract: The majority of strictures are treated by intermittent dilatations in order to achieve and maintain an adequate passage through the urethra. Some strictures are resistant to this treatment and call for a more radical therapy. Numerous surgical procedures have been designed with the goal of finding a method which would definitely remove urethral strictures. Strictures of the posterior urethra pose particularly serious problems. In this paper a surgical procedure is described which corrects strictures of the posterior urethra, based on marsupialization of the stricture by an inlay graft of the scrotal skin and on recontsruction of the urethra in a second stage. The author evaluates his own results in 22 patients and shows the adequacy of a radical solution in patients who are otherwise entirely dependent on life-long treatment by intermittent dilatations or on continuous derivation by cystostomy.
