Abstract: The floral anatomy of two species of the genusPhrynium belonging to the tribe Phrynieae is described in detail. Varying degrees of reduction of the gynoecium leading to the functionally unilocular condition of the ovary are witnessed inPh. parviflorum, a condition characteristic of species of the tribe Maranteae. The placentation is basal. The present study brings forth further evidence in regard to the nature of the labellum and the condition of the functional stamen.

Abstract: p-Aminobenzoic acid and α-Naphthylamine have been determined potentiometrically in presence of HCl against a standard solution of NaNO2 using bright platinum foil as an indicator electrode. The experiment were performed at three different temperatures (30°, 15°, 5° C) with different concentrations of HCl and NaNO2. Satisfactory results have been obtained.

Abstract: In this paper the stresses and displacement round a crack under various conditions have been investigated. The appropriate complex potentials are derived for four types of loading. These are: constant normal pressure on both sides of the crack with zero shear on the crack with zero principal stress at infinity, shear round the crack with zero finite stress at infinity, simple tension at infinity at a given angle to x-axis, shear at infinity. The case when the crack is subject to shear which is the case for nucleation of slip in fundamental metallurgical problem has been studied in detail. The problem has been solved after converting it into a Hilbert's Problem. Curves showing ischromatic lines (lines of constant stress) are sketched in.
