TL;DR: In this paper, the determinant of the matrix [E(n], E(n) = { 1,2, …, n}, is o(1)o(2) … o(n), where o(x) is Euler's totient function.
Abstract: Let S = {x1, x2, …, xn} be a set of distinct positive integers. The n × n matrix [S] = (Sij), where Sij, = (xi, xj), the greatest common divisor of xi, and xj, is called the greatest common divisor (GCD) matrix on S. H.J.S. Smith showed that the determinant of the matrix [E(n)], E(n) = { 1,2, …, n}, is o(1)o(2) … o(n), where o(x) is Euler's totient function. We extend Smith's result by considering sets S = {x1, x2, … xn} with the property that for all i and j, (xi, xj) is in S.

TL;DR: In this article, the reduction in foreclosure risk exposure to S&L mortgage portfolios that results from elimination of geographic restrictions due to DIDMCA of 1980 is evaluated in a study.
Abstract: The reduction in foreclosure-risk exposure to S&L mortgage portfolios that results from elimination of geographic restrictions due to DIDMCA of 1980 is evaluated in this study. By employing a quadratic programming approach, it is empirically demonstrated that geographic diversification can reduce a mortgage portfolio's foreclosure-risk exposure by 50 percent to 90 percent when compared to geographically undiversified mortgage portfolios. The benefits of reduced-foreclosure risk could accrue to either the FSLIC or to member S&Ls if the FSLIC adopts a risk-based insurance premium.

TL;DR: In this paper, the texture quality of quick frozen and conventionally frozen whole crayfish was evaluated, as measured by Kramer shear press, as a result of freezing, and the results showed that the latter was more tender than the former.
Abstract: Textural quality of quick frozen and conventionally frozen whole crayfish was evaluated. Toughness, as measured by Kramer shear press, increased significantly (p≤ 0.05) as a result of freezing. Between 6 and 16 wk of frozen storage, toughness increased (p≤ 0.05) in seasoned (SCF) samples but remained the same in all other treatments. In all treatments, toughness declined after 16 wk of frozen storage. Individually quick frozen (IQF) samples were more tender (p≤ 0.05) than conventionally frozen (CF) samples. Seasoned crayfish had the greatest degree of toughness (p≤ 0.05). Extractable protein decreased (p≤ 0.05) during frozen storage, with IQF samples showing the smallest changes. SCF samples had significantly (p≤ 0.05) lower moisture retention and more (p≤ 0.05) lipid oxidation.

TL;DR: The first known record of Volutilithes in the Paleogene of the Gulf Coastal Plain and only the third record of the genus in North America was reported by Toulmin et al..
Abstract: r-Lapparia sp. A of Toulmin (1977), from the early Eocene Hatchetigbee Formation of Alabama, is referable to the Tethyan genus Volutilithes and is conspecific with Voluta clarae Harris. This is the first certain record of Volutilithes in the Paleogene of the Gulf Coastal Plain and only the third record of the genus in North America. Trans-Atlantic migration of this tropical genus to the New World apparently occurred during the early Eocene. Its northward expansion into the higher latitudes of Alabama and southern California was probably in response to early Eocene climatic warming. In addition to Volutilithes, many other molluscs with Tethyan affinities are present in the Paloegene deposits of the Gulf Coastal Plain. These Tethyan elements, however, differ from those reported from the Eocene of peninsular Florida. The presence of a filter- bridge barrier, the Suwannee Channel, between the eastern Gulf shelf and the Floridian carbonate platform during the Paleogene may account for this difference.
