TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results of a CBM survey designed to determine present applications of CBM system within industry, and discuss developments in remote CBM systems using the Internet, with particular regard for developing suitable user interface designs.
Abstract: Advances in networking technologies are opening integration opportunities for Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) systems, presenting further possibilities for increasing CBM system functionality. This paper presents the results of a CBM Survey designed to determine present applications of CBM system within industry. Understanding how industry applies practices such as CBM in the work place offers valuable research results for CBM system providers, consultants and business users alike. The survey acts as a CBM application indicator for 2004. It targets 6 key areas: 1) Respondents’ company information, 2) The type of CBM technique/s applied by the respondents’ company, 3) Incentives that led the respondents’ company to implement their CBM system, 4) Technological and integration issues associated with respondents’ application of CBM, 5) Implementation issues associated with the respondents’ CBM system, and 6) Reliability and consequential maintenance awareness issues following implementation. An international response shows CBM to be a globally accepted maintenance practice. In addition to the survey results, the paper discusses developments in remote CBM systems using the Internet, with particular regard for developing suitable user interface designs.Copyright © 2004 by ASME

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss different aspects of information privacy and report an exploratory study of consumers' different privacy thresholds, indicating different levels of involvement towards privacy issues, and different perceptions of the trustworthiness of service sector companies, among consumers.
Abstract: The advocacy to extend relationship marketing into the management of the exchange processes within retailing and consumer service markets has meant a growing interest in the opportunities which are offered by technology‐based systems of customer management. A prerequisite for the successful translation of the relationship marketing paradigm from organizational to retailing and consumer service markets is customer information. As the technology for collecting customer data has become more sophisticated, so marketing managers have witnessed an increasing concern among consumers about the impact of these new marketing management techniques on their private rights. Discusses different aspects of information privacy and reports an exploratory study of consumers’ different privacy thresholds. The results indicate different levels of involvement towards privacy issues, and different perceptions of the trustworthiness of service sector companies, among consumers. The implications for relationship marketing strategies are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the findings of a survey into the practice and benefits of self-assessment to recognized models such as the European model for Total Quality Management and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award model.
Abstract: There is currently little published information about the use of total quality (TQ)‐based self‐assessment in the UK despite the increasing interest in the subject. Discusses the findings of a survey into the practice and benefits of self‐assessment to recognized models such as the European model for Total Quality Management and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award model. Survey findings indicate that companies are increasingly using self‐assessment and that benefits from this approach are quickly realized.

TL;DR: It is concluded that EP, rather than NAC, is an appropriate measure to use if, as in posts, a market is being liberalised and entry is expected to lead to major structural change.

TL;DR: In this paper, the photophysical behavior of benzophenone (BP) in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) has been studied as a function of temperature, and it was shown that at no temperature between 77 and 420K can the decay behavior of the triplet state of BP in PMMA be described adequately by a single exponential function.
