TL;DR: In this article, the apparent molal volume πv of sucrose in water has been measured at 25°C in the concentration range 0.04-4.4m from precise density measurements, and the predictive accuracy of Ward and Millero's modified Young's rule for Πv was found to be comparable to that for other electrolyte-nonelectrolyte solutions.
Abstract: The apparent molal volume πv of sucrose in water has been measured at 25°C in the concentration range 0.04–4.4m from precise density measurements. The same property was also determined for dilute solutions of sucrose in mixed aqueous solvents containing NaCl, KCl, or urea. The limiting values πv° and the slopesSv* were obtained in each case, and their significance has been discussed briefly. The mean apparent molal volumes Πv of the ternary systems were also calculated, and the predictive accuracy of Ward and Millero's modified Young's rule for Πv was found to be comparable to that for other electrolyte-nonelectrolyte solutions. For the system H2O-sucrose-urea, an additivity rule based simply on total molality predicted Πv with similar accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, a formula for the resolvent R(λ, T) of a Baxter operator T on a complex Banach algebra A with identity e, with the parameter θ ≠ 0 and e, but under some restriction, was given.

TL;DR: In this article, the crystallisation of calcium, strontium and barium titanate was studied by slow cooling of saturated solutions in the metal chloride melts at 1000 to 1200°C.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the cardinal splines that interpolate the function λ x at the integers, where λ is a complex number, and showed that these splines together with their successive derivatives can be used to compute the function and its derivatives at the integer level.

TL;DR: Most of the 60 research studies recently reported by the Department of Development Communication at University of the Philippines, fall into this category as discussed by the authors, and most of these studies tend to use sharply focussed studies aimed at analysing the communication components of a specific developmental change programme.

Abstract: Neodiplostomum (Conodiplostomum) ramachandrani sp. n. is described from Rattus muelleri in Kepong, Selangor, Malaysia. It is characterised by having symmetrical dumbell-shaped testes, and vitellaria as a single ventral band in the hindbody. The taxonomic relations of Neodiplostomum , Conodiplostomum and Fibricola are discussed and possible significance of the fluke as an ecological indicator noted.

TL;DR: In this article, a new distribution-free test is proposed for the hypothesis of row effect in a two-way layout design, which applies to the case of several observations per cell, not necessarily equal.
Abstract: ABSTRCTS Many nonparametric tests have been proposed for the hypothesis of no row (treatment) effect in a one-way layout design. Examples of such tests are Kruskal-Wallis H-test, Bhapkar's (1961) V-test and Deshpande's (1965) L-test. However not many tests are available for testing the same hypothesis in a two-way layout design without interaction. Perhaps the only “established” test is the one due to Friedman (1937). However, it applies to the case of one observation per cell only. In this paper, a new distribution-free test is proposed for the hypothesis of row effect in a two-way layout design. It applies to the case of several observations per cell, not necessarily equal. The asymptotic efficiency of the proposed test relative to other tests is studied.
