TL;DR: Wallis et al. as discussed by the authors proposed two new block designs for the (u, k,,,,\) configurations (15, 7, 3, (25, 9, 3), (45, 12, 3) and (36, 15, 6), respectively.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that A and B are equivalent over the integers (that is, B can be obtained from A using elementary row and column operations which involve only integers).
Abstract: Supposem is a square-free odd integer, andA andB are any two Hadamard matrices of order 4m. We will show thatA andB are equivalent over the integers (that is,B can be obtained fromA using elementary row and column operations which involve only integers).

TL;DR: The empirical data given here support the hypothesis that introversion, sensory acuity and isolation tolerance have been presented by Eysenck and that the evidence is from a variety of sources.
Abstract: An argument relating introversion, sensory acuity and isolation tolerance has been presented by Eysenck (1967). The empirical data given here support that hypothesis; the evidence is from a variety of sources. All Ss mentioned in this study completed the Cattell 16 P.F. test. Computation of the extraversion scores was as prescribed in the manual. A group of 18 Ss was tested for toleration of isolation by the immersion-in-water method. From this group 6 Ss with the highest toleration times were called high tolerators (M = 2 hr. 47 min., SD = 18 min.) and 6 Ss with the lowest toleration times were called low tolerators ( M = 51 min., SD = 15 min.). Six college students (and a comparison group) were selected on their self ratings of being well able to withstand isolation in everyday situations, such as being kept in waiting rooms, being confined to bed, etc. Seven steelworkers (and a comparison group), 4 miners, and 5 reclusive priests were selected because their callings involved substantial isolation. The latter 2 groups are obvioiis choices; the former group was used in order to diversify the sample to include induscrialmanufacturing settings.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the predictions of the phenomenological theory of martensitic transformations by assuming the complementary strain to be a shear on the martensite twinning system, and using the measured habit plane to derive a complementary strain, orientation relationship and displacement direction.

TL;DR: In this article, an investigation was made of pupillary reactions to word stimuli presented both visually and auditorily, and the ability to discriminate between groups on this basis was explored, together with the relationships between pupil reactivity and neuroticism scores.
Abstract: An investigation was made of pupillary reactions to word stimuli presented both visually and auditorily. The ability to discriminate between groups on this basis was explored, together with the relationships between pupil reactivity and neuroticism scores. The study showed that repetition results in diminution of response; that the choice of words is critical but it does appear possible to discriminate between groups; that neuroticism seems to bear some relationship to response manner and that serial order of visual/auditory presentation of stimuli does not appear to affect the direction of the response. It is suggested that the findings might find an application in clinical psychology.

TL;DR: Wallis as mentioned in this paper conjectured that an Hadamard matrix always exists for n = 4t, t any integer for any integer in the dimension n, where n is the number of elements in the matrix.

TL;DR: Auditory stimuli were used and the hypothesis that the tendency to give pupillary responses is related to neuroticism was supported.
Abstract: Changes in optical pupil size in response to emotionally loaded stimuli are mediated by the autonomic nervous system. Eysenck has suggested a relation between autonomic lability and neuroticism. These two items were used to make the prediction that the tendency to give pupillary responses is related to neuroticism. Auditory stimuli were used. Two experiments were undertaken. The hypothesis was supported in each case.

TL;DR: The aim of this paper is to introduce refinements into the rational approximation, and the parameters introduced are evaluated by separate considerations and are shown to be related to the Dancoff & Bell factors.
Abstract: The equivalence relation between heterogeneous and homogeneous reactor systems was first established by Chernick & Vernon by using the rational approximation for the collision probabilities. The aim of this paper is to introduce refinements into the rational approximation. The parameters introduced are evaluated by separate considerations and are shown to be related to the Dancoff & Bell factors. Throughout this work, narrow resonance considerations are invoked since partial neglect of scattering complicates the issue being studied.

TL;DR: In fact, the number of persons receiving unemployment benefits should not be regarded as a measurement of unemployment, but only as a measure of one category of the unemployed, since many categories of unemployed persons do not qualify for unemployment benefits as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Due to the different and changing methods used in calculating the various unemployment measures, meaningful comparisons are difficult even in census years. As the 1966 census used a different method of compiling unemployment data than earlier censuses, only 1966 data give a full comparison of all unemployment measures now in use. Table I shows those who receive unemployment benefits to be only a fraction of those classified as unemployed under the other systems of measurement. Since many categories of unemployed persons do not qualify for unemployment benefits, this result is to be expected. In fact, the number of persons receiving unemployment benefits should not be regarded as a measurement of unemployment, but only as a measurement of one category of the unemployed. The number of persons registered for employment indicates about the same level of unemployment as the Quarterly Survey and a slightly lower level than the Population Census. Two factors must be considered in assessing the number of persons registered for employment: that due to lacy of opportunity or lack of desire to utilize the services of the Commonwealth Employment Service, not all unemployed persons register with the service; and that persons who have registered and subsequently obtain

TL;DR: Expected numbers of human casualties in a single-bomb nuclear attack upon a symmetric city are calculated using Sherratt's and Clark's models and for various distances between the city center and ground zero.
Abstract: Expected numbers of human casualties in a single-bomb nuclear attack upon a symmetric city are calculated using Sherratt's and Clark's models and for various distances between the city center and ground zero. The calculated results indicate that considerable error may arise in practical cases from the unjustified use of Sherratt's model.
