TL;DR: The cysts from great tits muscles were morphological similar to those found in natural infections of this Sarcocystis species, and the relation of this species to S. accipitris is discussed.
Abstract: Summary. Dne hundred and seventy five passerine birds from the Czech Republic were examined for the presence of sarcosporidia; auly 5 (all great tits) were positive for muscle cysts. Three great tits experimentally fed sporocysts (12.2 x 8.4, 11-13 x 7.5-9 !lm) from a goshawk developed cysts while 2 house sparrows (Passerdomesticus)were not infected. The cysts from great tits muscles were morphological1ysimilar to thosefoundin natural infections. The thin-walledcysts containedbanana-shapedcystozoites6.9 x 1.8(5.9-8.5x 1.3-2.3)!lm in size. The natural life cycle of this Sarcocystis species involves goshawks and great tits. The relation of this species to S. accipitris is discussed.

Abstract: Summary. Gregnrina ncridionrnz Leger is redescribed based on material from Cnllipfar?zris itnlicrrs and Dociostnrrrris innroccnniis collected in Spain and in Locirstn nzigrnroria in Uzbekistan. This gregarine has a wide range of hosts and is broadly distributed in Palearctic region. Gregnrinn garnhanii Canning is considered to be a junior synonym of G. ncridinrrrrii. Intensity of parasiti7ation in wrne hcst incccts nas very high which indicates a detrimental effect on gut functions. Gregarine infections have been also recorded in the natural populations of the acridids Ailopris sp., Anacridiirni aegptirrin, and Oednleris decorris and of the tettigoniid Decricirs albifrons collected on Iberian Peninsula and Canary Islands.
