TL;DR: This paper identified and investigated the gaps in English language teaching and learning that exist between post-basic schools and universities in the Sultanate of Oman in relation to the problems that school and university language learners encounter when writing in English and to the strategies they follow to overcome these problems.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to identify and investigate the gaps in English language teaching and learning that exist between post-basic schools and universities in the Sultanate of Oman. The gaps were examined in relation to the problems that school and university language learners encounter when writing in English and to the strategies they follow to overcome these problems. The examined problems concerned writing a correct English sentence; putting the ideas together in a coherent way; choosing the right vocabulary to express ideas and having ideas about the suggested topics and deciding how to start an essay/paragraph. Approaches to writing in the context of English as foreign language informed the study. The study involved a sample of randomly selected 1114 school students and 317 university students from Muscat, Batinah South and Dhakeleya regions of Oman. The results indicate that both groups of students acknowledge that they have problems when writing in English (mean score 3.78 and 3.85). Data regarding writing problems suggest that majority of school and university students struggle with lexical and content aspects of writing, however university students’ perceptions of the kind of problems they encounter and of the strategies to address them are more assertive. The study recommends alignment of school and university writing curricula with emphasis on ideas’ development, content knowledge, critical and creative thinking.

TL;DR: In this paper, an attempt to analyze, evaluate and criticize issues affecting the educational system through the years with the end view of recommending possible improvements is made with the goal to recommend possible improvements.
Abstract: The essay is an attempt to analyze, evaluate and criticize issues affecting the educational system through the years with the end view of recommending possible improvements The metamorphosis of Philippine education through the years was a gradual process brought about by generations of colonialism and imperialism From the Spaniards to the Americans, to the Japanese even during the Liberation period up to the EDSA revolution, changes in education did not match the high hopes of the Filipino people Presently, the Philippine educational system needs to address issues not only of accessibility and quality in providing education for all Other issues needs to addressed involved the role of education in the national development, the unresponsive curriculum, improper monitoring of programs implemented, globalization of education and even politics in education For the Philippine education to succeed its ills and problems must be addressed There is a need for values reorientation of the Filipinos as a key to national development Teachers’ transformation, in terms of their values orientation is necessary Part of the teachers’ transformation must include their upgrading or updating for professional and personal development Hence, government support and intervention, along this line is very much needed As these very same ills and problems have been hounding the country for the last several decades, failure to do so will only compound these problems in the coming years

TL;DR: In this article, an integrated model of park accessibility containing both spatial and non-spatial dimensions is presented, which can be used to facilitate future research into more effective public facility delivery.
Abstract: This article aims to critically analyse the concept of accessibility in the academic literature with the end goal of developing a new integrative framework for defining and measuring accessibility. Access to urban public facilities such as parks and green space is alleged to contribute to community well-being, as well as the development of social capital and inclusive neighbourhoods. Accessibility, however, is a complex concept difficult to define but much harder to measure. Our analysis indicates that while accessibility has been developed as a multidimensional construct, its measurement has been limited to its physical and temporal dimensions, leaving other relevant factors such as social conditions and personal constraints, largely unexplored. We argue for the relevance of these latter factors to realistically assess accessibility to urban public facilities. We present an alternative concept of accessibility, which is an integrated model of park accessibility containing both spatial and non-spatial dimensions and propose that this model be used to facilitate future research into more effective public facility delivery.
