TL;DR: The serum AFP and free-β-HCG level of pregnant women during second-trimester were effective indexes to screen abnormal fetus and predict outcome of pregnancy and fetus, which would be a practical method of preventing congenital defect.
Abstract: [Objective] To explore the practical value of Down's screening in the middle period pregnancy in detecting chromosomal disease and congenital birth defect and predicting the outcome of pregnancy. [Methods] Serum AFP and free-β-HCG level of pregnant women(14~20+6 weeks) were detected by time-distinguished fluorescence immunoassay. Down's syndrome risk value was calculated with Multicalc software, its cut-off value was 1:250. The pregnant women whose value are higher than or equal to 1:250 would be at high risk and need to have the cordocentesis for fetal karyotype after 18 weeks. [Results] 3195 pregnant women accepted antenatal screening, 232 cases of them were detected at high risk, and positive rate was 7.3%,including 169 cases of high risk with Down's syndrome(fasle positive rate 5.2%). Fetal karyotypes of 147 cases diagnosed by the cordocentesis, 19 cases with fetal abnormal chromosome, the detectable rate was 12.9%,including three cases of Down's syndrome, a case of 18-trisome and a case of X-trisome. There is signification different in the rate of the abnormal outcome of pregnant women and fetuses in two groups of high risk and low risk of Down's syndrome (30.2% and 12.3% respectively, P 0.05). [Conclusion] The serum AFP and free-β-HCG level of pregnant women during second-trimester were effective indexes to screen abnormal fetus and predict outcome of pregnancy and fetus, which would be a practical method of preventing congenital defect.

TL;DR: The hematite nanoparticles could induce the oxidative stress condition in CHL cells in relation to time, but no notable correlation between the index of MDA, SOD and the size and doses is found.
Abstract: [Objective] To investigate the cytotoxicity among different size of hematite nanoparticles by 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) and oxidative effects. [Methods] CHL cell was used in this study. Three sizes of Fe2O3 nanoparticles 8, 13, and 37nm were administered to the cell cultures with different doses and times as experimental groups. The IC50 and growth-inhibitory curves of cells were assayed by cell counting. The concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) were determined by thiobarbituric acid reactive substance method and the activity of super oxide dismutase (SOD) was determined by xanthine oxidase method. [Results] When cells were exposed to three sizes of nanoparticles respectively within a dose range, the cells inhibitory (CI) rate decreased as the dose increasing with a relationship of dose-effect response, which however disappeared beyond the dose range. Within the range of dose-effect as above, we can calculate the IC50 of three sizes of nanoparticles: IC50(8 nm)=279.585 μg/mL, IC50(13 nm)=254.739 μg/mL, IC50(37 nm)=561.237 μg/mL. The hematite nanoparticles could induce the oxidative stress condition in CHL cells in relation to time, but no notable correlation between the index of MDA, SOD and the size and doses. [Conclusion] There is difference of cytotoxicity among different sizes of hematite nanoparticles. Meanwhile the hematite nanoparticles could induce oxidative stress condition in CHL cell, which maybe correlative to its cytotoxicity by time and effect relationship.

TL;DR: Salpingectomy has detrimental effects on ipsilateral ovarian reponse to superovulation, and patients should try their best to reserve the salpinx during tubal pregnacy if the patients need to keep their reproductive capabilities.
Abstract: To investigate the effect of salpingectomy on the funtion of ovary in patients undergoing an IVF-ET treatment cycle. The data of 45 cycles of IVF-ET, which were accomplished in the Reproductive Medicine Center of Third Affiliated Hospital, Guangxi Medical University during May 2000 and September2003, from 42 patients with history of unilateral salpingectomy clue to ectopic pregnancy, were analyzed reprospectively (study group). In the study group, mean ovarian volume, number of follicles and number of oocytes retrieved from each orary were assessed. The control group was 129 cycles of IVF-ET,which were accomplished in the same duration, from 121 patients with fallopian tube obstruction but without hydrosalpix. There were fewer follicles developed and oocytes retrieved in unilateral salpingectomy group, but no differences in other cycle characteristics between the study and control groups were found. Amony the patients who had undergone unilateral salpingectomy, significantly fewer follicles developed and consequently fewer oocytes were retrieved from the ovary on the operated side. There were also significantly small in mean ovarian volume during late follicle period. But there were no differenecs in mean ovarian volume during early follicle perild. [Conclusion] Salpingectomy has detrimental effects on ipsilateral ovarian reponse to superovulation. Salpingectomy may has detrimental effects on the blood supply of ipsiateral ovary. So we should try our best to reserve the salpinx during tubal pregnacy if the patients need to keep their reproductive capabilities.

TL;DR: Verapamil can inhibit the proliferation of meningioma cells in vitro and vivo and the inhibition can be observed in the concentration of 1 μmol/L and the mostly obvious effects appear in the Concentration dependant.
Abstract: To investigate the effects of verapamil on the proliferation of meningioma cells in vitro and in vivo. Verapamil with various concentration were put in the cultured meningioma cells and after 24 hours by means of MTT to value the proliferation of meningioma cells. The meningioma model was established by implanting the newly removed tumor fragments into the nude mice subcutaneously. The nude mice with tumors were divided into two groups. One group was treated with verapamil resolved in water and the other is a control group without verapamil. Tumors volume was measured and after 12 weeks the tumors were taken out and examined histologically. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was detected with immunohistochemistry. Verapamil inhibits the growth of cultured meningioma cells in concentration dependant. The inhibition can be observed in the concentration of 1 μmol/L and the mostly obvious effects appear in the concentration of 100 μmol/L. Tumors volume of the verapamil treated group is obviously smaller than that of the control group(211.40±5.50 vs 163.94±3.62, P 0.01)and its expression of PCNA is also lower(1.52±0.24 vs 2.86±0.53). Tumor inhibition rate is about 22.45%. [Conclusion] Verapamil can inhibit the proliferation of meningioma cells in vitro and vivo.

Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells(HUVECs) were cultured in vitro. Apoptosis of VEC were induced by arecoline, and SM was added in test specimen. Apoptotic morphological changes and percentage of apoptosis were observed under fluorescent microscope. The activity of Caspase-3 were evaluated by the colorimeteric assay. Compared with control, VEC apoptosis increased significantly and the activity of Caspases-3 increased in arecoline(90ug/ml) group. SM(8mg/ml) reduced the apoptosis induced by arecoline (P 0.05) and the activity of Caspases-3. [Conclusion] SM could downregulate the arecoline-induced apoptosis of VEC and maintain integrity of endothelium, suggesting that SM may posses antifibrotic ability.

Abstract: [Objective] To observe the effect of jianlin decoction to blood pressure and system of resist oxidation in the hypertension of liver yang excessive patients. [Methods] The 60 patients with hypertension were divided two groups: in one group( jianlin decoction group), the patients were treated by jianlin decoction, in the other( felodipine group), the patients were treated by felodipine. Before and after four weeks, we measure the life mass and serum CAT, at the same time, we measure the CAT in 25 normal person. [Result] After 4 weeks, the grade of life mass and serum CAT increased in both groups(P 0.01), but the jianlin decoction group's increased more distinctly (t =15.94, 0.01). [Conclusion] Jianlin decoction can improve the life mass and increase the serum content of CAT in the liver yang excessive patients, thereby, preventing lipid supper oxidation in endothelium cell, delay caducity.

TL;DR: The abnormal expression of hMSH2 and PCNA may be involved in the carcinogens process of lung cancer and correlated with differentiation grades and lymph node metastasis.
Abstract: To investigate the expression and significance of human mismatch repair gene (hMSH2) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in lung cancer. Expression of hMSH2 and PCNA in 56 cases with lung cancer was examined by S-P immunohistochemical staining. In 56 cases with lung cancer, the positive expression rate of hMSH2 was 28.6%. The positive rate of Hmsh2 Expression in the patients with high and middle differention grades was significantly higher than that of the others (P0.01), meanwihile, the positive rate of cases with lymph node metastasis (P0.05). It wasn′t positively correlated with pathological types. In 56 cases with lung cancer, PCNA labeling index (PCNA-LI) in the patients with high and middle differention grades was lower than that of the others (P0.01), meanwhile, the PCNA-LI of patients with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that of patients without metastasis (P0.05). PCAN-LI in hMSH2 positive lung cancer tissue was higher than that in hMSH2 negative tissue (P0.01). [Conclusions] The abnormal expression of hMSH2 and PCNA may be involved in the carcinogens process of lung cancer and correlated with differentiation grades and lymph node metastasis.

TL;DR: Establishment of this model of cerebral ischemia of monkey has fairly important value for the studying of stroke, especially in screening out potent thrombolytic drugs.
Abstract: [Objective] To discuss the function about autologous blood clots in making the animal model of cerebral ischemia. [Method] Authors transmitted autologous blood clots into M1 branch of middle cerebral artery (MCA) of monkey by endovascular tiny injured repair. [Results] The M1 branch of MCA developed not enough clear by digital subtraction angiography (DSA) after embolizated. One hour later, acute local ischemia focuses were seen by CT filling angiography and lower density old local ischemia focuses were seen 72h later using CT noncontrast scan. The two dead animals were immediately anatomized and cerebral TTC staining was found positive. The living animals had various degree behavior obstacle after coming to their senses. [Conclusion] Establishment of this model is successful. It has fairly important value for the studying of stroke, especially in screening out potent thrombolytic drugs.

TL;DR: In this paper, a RP-HPLC method for determining Levodropizine from blood samples was presented, which was performed using a HiQsil C18 (150×4.6 mm, 5 μm) column at 30℃.
Abstract: [Objective] To establish a RP-HPLC method for determining levodropizine. [Method] Levodropizine was extracted from blood samples. Determination of levodropizine were carried out using a HiQsil C18 (150×4.6 mm, 5 μm) column at 30℃. the mobile phase consisted of 0.1M KH2PO4:acetonitrile:methanol (82:3:15). The flow rate was 0.6ml.min-1.The wave length of fluorescence determination: Ex=240 nm, Em=350 nm. [Result] Levodropizine could be separated well. The calibration curves of levodropizine in the range of 3.46~886 ng/mL were linear. The minimal quantified concentration of levodropizine was 3.46 ng/mL. The relative recovery were 106.12%~109.05%. The absolute recovery of levodropizine from plasma were more than 80%. The RSD of inter-day and intra-day were less than 10.0%. [Conclusion] The method is accurate and sensitive. It is suitable to be applied in thetheraputic drug monitor of levodropizine.

TL;DR: Auto- CPAP can improve the sleep apnea/hypopnea and noctural oxygendesaturation and the s leep quality of OSAHS patients improved too during treating.
Abstract: [Objective] To observe the efficiency of auto-continuous positive ai rway pressure(Auto-CPAP) treatment in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypo pnea syndrome(OSAHS). And to investigate the influence of sleep structure in OSA HS patients treated by AUTO-CPAP. [Methods] The polysomnography (PSG) were tak en in 28 patients with OSAHS untreated previously. Their parameters of PSG obtai ned before and during the AUTO-CPAP treatment were analyzed. [Results] During the AUTO-CPAP treatment the longest apnea time had been shorten (25±12.9) s vs. (57.6±18.3) s, P 0.001. Apnea Hypopnea Index(AHI) had been decreased(8.0±8.7 )/h vs. (54.4±22.7)/h, P 0.001. The lowest oxygen saturation had been raised ( 83.7±6.5) % vs. (66.0±12.1) %, P 0.001. And the average oxygen saturation imp roved too (93.6±2.2)% vs. (86.5±6.8)%, P 0.001). The deep sleep (sleep stage 3 and 4) improved (11.4±5.4)% vs. (5.4±8.0), P 0.01. Microarousle Index (MAI ) decreased from (31.5±19.5)/h to (8.3±5.1)/h (P 0.001). Sleep efficiency get a little lower (85.0±11.8) % vs. (89.8±9.1) %, P 0.05. [Conclusions] Auto- CPAP can improve the sleep apnea/hypopnea and noctural oxygendesaturation. The s leep quality of OSAHS patients improved too during treating.
