TL;DR: In this paper, a documental analysis of a negotiation between two entities, being one a national company and the other, a foreign one, both located in Mato Grosso state, has revealed the existence of a series of advantages that came along with the gas methane treatment generated by the animal waste.
Abstract: The clean development mechanism (CDM) represents an alternative to stimulate the implementation of sustainable undertaking under the economical, environmental and social aspects, through sectors being regarded as potentially polluting. In face of such scenario, this research aims to analyze the benefits which have arisen out of investments in hog raising undertaking. This is an exploratory research, carried out with its base on a documental analysis of a negotiation between two entities, being one a national company and the other, a foreign one, both located in Mato Grosso state. The present study has revealed the existence of a series of advantages that came along with the gas methane treatment generated by the animal’s waste. Such advantages include the elimination of environmental impact and its costs, energy production aiming self maintenance, bio-fertilizers production, which are less harmful to the soil and the underground water, with no additional costs. We have noticed the need to create means to identify and measure the referred benefits, targeting to obtain

TL;DR: Taborda et al. as mentioned in this paper evaluated the technical and economic feasibility of producing ethanol fuel in a small plant in the town of Santa Maria, the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, using as raw materials sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) starch.
Abstract: Biofuels gradually expand their potential share in power generation, due to the progressive reduction of fossil carbon reserves, combined with growing energy demands of society. Brazil has favorable conditions for the cultivation of bioenergy sources due to its tropical climate and it’s currently concentrated on a single source, sugar cane. However, due to the low temperatures in winter and incidences of frost, only the State of Rio Grande do Sul doesn ́t have the potential climate for planting sugar cane and, consequently, its reduced share in the production of ethanol. An alternative to sugar cane are the starchy, among which we can highlight sweet potato and cassava. Apart from subsistence farming, sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) may be marketed for the biofuels industry, benefiting small farmers. This project intends to determine the technical and economic feasibility of producing ethanol fuel in a small plant in the town of Santa Maria, the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, using as raw materials sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) starch. Results show technical feasibility, obtaining 190 liters of hydrous ethanol from 1,000 kg of sweet potato. Processing cost amounts R$ 0.96 (US 0.46) per liter. From this value, 35.4% is the raw material contribution and 64.6% is due Evaluation of the technical and economic feasibility of ethanol production in a pilot plant using sweet potatoes Taborda, L.W.; Jahn, S.L.; Lovato, A.; Evangelista, M.L.S. ABC cost was applied and the main expenditure element was manpower (37%) and the main activity cost was distillation (35%).

TL;DR: In this paper, a stratified random sampling technique was used to estimate the production efficiency of jujube growers in China and the results indicated that better education and intensity of Jujube plant specialization increased technical and cost efficiency.
Abstract: This study aims to empirically estimate the production efficiency of jujube growers in China. A stratified random sampling technique was undertaken wherefrom which 238 samples were selected. Input-based measures of technical and cost efficiency were generated employing a data envelopment analysis approach, and followed by a Tobit analysis on the factors influencing technical and cost efficiency. The results indicated that better education and intensity of jujube plant specialization increased technical and cost efficiency. Obtainment of technical training, specialized labor, and the ownership of fruit drier and irrigation equipment will improve technical efficiency.
