Abstract: During continuous casting of high aluminum steel,composition and properties of mold fluxes change obviously due to the slag-steel reaction.In present work,slag-steel reaction characteristics were analyzed by thermodynamics calculation.The result shows that content of SiO2 in mold fluxes should be limited in a reasonable range to reduce the reaction between steel and slag,and the reduction of SiO2 can be inhibited by adding MnO to the mold fluxes.In order to maintain stability of mold fluxes after absorbing Al2O3,mold fluxes with high basic and high glassy phase were used.The industrial experiments demonstrated that the melting point and viscosity of mold fluxes for high aluminum steel varied little after absorbing inclusion,the good surface and subsurface quality of casting strands was achieved,which can meet the demand of continuous casting high aluminum steel.

Abstract: The composition of the steel slag was introduced,the current domestic steel slag treatment process was also described,and the working principle and the relative merits of steel slag treatment process,such as heat over method,roller method and hot stuffy method,were reviewed.The constitution of slag was introduced and the approaches to comprehensive utilizing were described in aspects of steel smelting,manufacture of architectural materials,environmental engineering and agricultural production,etc.The restriction of the application of steel slag was summarized from the present situation of the comprehensive utilization of steel slag.The specific problems about the steel slag reusing technology and concept were present,and the future development trend of the use of steel slag was discussed.

Abstract: The difficulties of molten metallurgical slag(including blast furnace slag and steel slag,etc.) heat recovery caused by low thermal conductivity and high enthalpy are analyzed.The processes of molten slag dry granulation combined heat recovery by physical means,such as slag continuous casting,rotary drum granulation,stirring granulation,air blast granulation and Merotec process,were expatiated.The technology of sensible heat recovery by chemical reactions,such as gas reforming,coal gasification and producing products from molten slag directly,were introduced.It is found that the bottleneck of heat recovery by physical means is the low exergy efficiency.Because of the high energy consumption of China steel industry,this kind of technology is of importance to China.The prospects of slag dry granulation and heat recovery technology were predicted: among dry granulation technologies,centrifugal granulation(rotary cup atomizer) is much simple and more efficient;among heat recovery technologies,recovery by chemical reaction is promising due to its low exergy losses.

Abstract: The inclusions on the bonded interface were analyzed by optical microscopy(OA) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and the formation mechanism of oxide inclusions was investigated and discussed.The results show that the inclusions are mainly made of oxides.The chemical composition of oxide inclusions can also be related to vacuum degree inside the clad metal slab,in which silicon dominated at the vacuum degree of 15 Pa or higher and the aluminum did at the vacuum degree of 0.1 Pa or lower.It can be considered that the oxide inclusions were formed due to the oxidation of aluminum,silicon,manganese elements diffusing from the inside to interfaces to be bonded of metals.The experimental results also indicate that oxidation also become more evident with the reduction in vacuum degree,and the proportion of oxide inclusions increases to 50% from 15% with the decrease of vacuum degree from 0.1 Pa to near 15 Pa.
