Abstract: Objective: To analyze the concept of Meaningful Learning, according to David Ausubel's Theory. Method: Integrative review using the Meleis's Theoretical Analysis model. Results: The following were identified as antecedents: Previous students' knowledge, potentially meaningful instructional material and student's willingness to learn. The attributes found were: Existence of previous knowledge that allows the connection with the new knowledge; interaction of previous and new knowledge in the cognitive structure; expansion of the cognitive structure through the incorporation of prior knowledge with the new. The consequent ones found: Existence of new knowledge in the cognitive structure of the student, that generate sense and meaning in the cognitive system of the student and that confers importance to him according to the utility for his daily life. Conclusion: The conceptual analysis carried out contributed to the establishment of a more complete definition for Meaningful Learning, which can be appreciated in teaching and research, regardless of the area of activity.

Abstract: Objective: to describe the validation of the booklet on self-care with the feet of people with diabetes. Method: methodological study, focusing on the validation of a printed booklet. The content and appearance of the booklet was validated by 23 judges divided into three groups: 11 content and appearance, seven technicians and five of the area of design and marketing. The appearance was validated by 30 people with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Results: the judges in the nursing area allowed the validation of material with a Content Validity Index (CVI) of 0.99, judges in the area of design and marketing with Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM) of 99.2% and the target audience with concordance index of 99.4%. Conclusion: the educational booklet proved to be valid and reliable educational material to be used in order to promote compliance with self-care with the feet of people with Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract: Objetives: To identify and analyze the scientific evidence regarding the occurrence of Medical Device-Related Pressure Injuries, considering the development sites; and to describe the devices of risk and the measures of prevention and treatment. Method: Integrative, search-based review: CINAHL, PubMed, Wiley InterScience, Scopus, and Web Of Science. The terms “pressure ulcer” and “medical devices” were used, including original articles and case studies published between 2010 and 2015. Nine studies were selected. Results: Posterior cervical region and nose had the highest injury frequencies, respectively, 66.0% and 40.0%. Eleven risk devices were identified, with emphasis on Non-Invasive Ventilation masks and orotracheal tube. For prevention and treatment emerged recommendations specific to the device employed and general measures. Conclusion: Medical Device-Related Pressure Injuries are frequent problems, however, they can be prevented and treated based on the recommendations of the articles raised in this review.

Abstract: Objective: To demonstrate in the national and international literature the concept and typologies of entrepreneurship in Nursing. Method: Integrative review in six databases, with the descriptors entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial, entrepreneurialism, intrapreneurial, iniciativa empresarial, contrato de risco, nursing, nurse, nurses, enfermagem and enfermeira, making a final sample of 31 articles. Results: The concept of entrepreneurship in Nursing is related to personal and professional characteristics, such as autonomy, independence, flexibility, innovation, proactivity, self-confidence and responsibility. The typologies found were: social and business entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship. Social entrepreneurship is a mechanism of social mobilization and transformation, entrepreneurship is one in which nurses are autonomous professionally and intrapreneurship relates to corporate entrepreneurs. Conclusion: Entrepreneurship can increase the visibility of the profession and foster the creation of new spaces for nurses.

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate levels of occupational stress and work engagement among primary health care workers. Method: A descriptive, correlational and transversal study was carried out in a small municipality in the countryside of Sao Paulo, with a non-probabilistic sample of convenience, with 85 workers. Three self-applied instruments were used: one developed by researchers, containing sociodemographic variables; Work Stress Scale (WSS) and Utrech Work Engagement Scale (UWES). Results: Prevalence of women (72.6%), 40 years old or more (45.9%), 4 years and 4 months of mean working time in primary care. Thirty-one workers (36.5%) presented significant stress (scores ≥2.5). Work engagement showed a mean of 4.1 (±1.2) to 4.4 (±1.4), classified as high in all dimensions. Occupational stress and work engagement correlated negatively. Conclusion: Workers presented high levels of work engagement; more than one-third had significant occupational stress. Workers with high levels of occupational stress tend to have lower work engagement.

Abstract: Objective: To discuss the contribution of nursing theories in the conceptual expansion of good practices in the area for the construction of the unified health system (Sistema Unico de Saude – SUS). Method: Theoretical production of reflection, based on the neomodern framework of philosophy of science. Results: The knowledge and political, social and epistemological commitments of nursing are discussed, highlighting the relationship of the theories with good practices for the construction and application of knowledge in the area in the context of the Brazilian health care system. Reflection on how middle-range theories can help in solving dichotomies between discipline, theory, practice, producers and consumers of knowledge is made. Conclusion: Original reflections on the contributions of disciplinary and professional knowledge of nursing theories to the creation of SUS are presented, defending a creation through the academy-service partnership, in which the theories start being incorporated into a new concept of nursing practices aligned to neomodern principles of science.

Abstract: Objective: To understand the perception of the Primary Health Care multiprofessional team on the practices of health education and on the role of nurses in the performance of educational activities. Method: Exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview with the participation of 12 professionals from the Family Health Strategy. To analyze the data, we used the technique of content analysis, with thematic approach, proposed by Bardin. Results: Three categories emerged: Perception of the multiprofessional team on health education; Educational practices in Primary Health Care: everyone's task?; and The role of nurses in health education. Final considerations: It was verified that the multiprofessional team perceives health education as being the responsibility of all the professionals. Some professionals consider the nurse as an important educator, others as executor of management and care actions and, to a lesser extent, of educational actions.

Abstract: Objective to identify studies about strategies for prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia deployed in health services and classify their level of evidence. Method integrative review of the literature, in 7 databases, which included the following descriptors: Prevention and Control AND Pneumonia Ventilator-Associated AND Intensive Care Units AND Bundle AND Patient Care. Results twenty-three scientific productions were included. Of the preventive measures identified, 9 (39.1%) correspond from three to five strategies. The most frequent were: 22 (95.6%) lying with head elevated, 19 (82.6%) oral hygiene with chlorhexidine and 14 (60.8%) reduction of sedation whenever possible. Final consideration the application of measures based on scientific evidence is proven to be effective when carried out in conjunction, impacting the reduction of the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Abstract: Este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a cultura de seguranca do paciente na Atencao Primaria a Saude de um municipio da regiao centro-oeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Estudo transversal, realizado em 2016, com profissionais da area da saude atuantes na Atencao Primaria a Saude do municipio de Santa Maria/RS. Para avaliacao da cultura de seguranca, utilizou-se a versao brasileira do Safety Attitudes Questionnaire Ambulatory Version (SAQ-AV) e questoes complementares para caracterizacao sociodemografica e laboral dos participantes. Os dados foram organizados no programa Epi-Info®, versao 6.4, e analisados no programa PASW Statistics®. O SAQ-AV foi mensurado pela pontuacao total e por seus nove dominios. Foram considerados indicadores de atitudes de seguranca positiva os escores ≥7,5. Participaram 254 profissionais dos 28 servicos de saude (Unidade Basica de Saude, Estrategia e Saude da Familia, unidades mistas e gestao). Predominaram trabalhadores do sexo feminino (81,1%); com idade entre 22 e 39 anos (53,6%); casados ou que viviam com companheiro (65%); que trabalhavam em ESF (44,1%), cumpriam turno misto de trabalho (84,6%); trabalhavam havia mais de 13 anos (36%); nao possuiam outro emprego (78,7%); gostavam do seu emprego (97,2%); a forma de contato com o paciente direta (96,1%). O escore total do SAQ-AV variou entre 3,4 e 8,4 com media 7,0 (±9,3). A consistencia interna do SAQ-AV foi 0,86. Evidenciou-se avaliacao positiva somente no dominio Seguranca do Paciente. O SAQ-AV Total apresentou diferenca significativa para cultura positiva na percepcao dos Tecnicos de Enfermagem e profissionais da Estrategia Saude da Familia. O dominio Satisfacao no Trabalho foi significativo para cultura positiva nas categorias profissionais de Tecnicos de Enfermagem, Agente Comunitario de Saude, Medicos e Auxiliares de Enfermagem, e a Comunicacao apresentou maiores percentuais de avaliacao positiva pelos Tecnicos de Enfermagem. Dentre as categorias profissionais, somente os Agentes Comunitarios de Saude foram classificados com cultura positiva no dominio Educacao Permanente. Profissionais com idade entre 40 e 63 anos apresentaram significativamente maiores percentuais para o baixo reconhecimento do estresse. Os participantes citaram sugestoes para aperfeicoar a seguranca do paciente que foram agrupadas em: Protocolos para Seguranca do Paciente na Atencao Primaria a Saude; Capacitacoes; Ambiente de Trabalho e Infraestrutura; Condicoes e Sobrecarga de Trabalho; Comunicacao; Erro; Resolutividade. Conclui-se que a cultura de seguranca no ambiente da Atencao Primaria a Saude pesquisado precisa ser efetivada. Fortalecer as Redes de Atencao a Saude, construir parcerias, envolver os pacientes no cuidado, discutir e dialogar sobre a seguranca do paciente entre a equipe e no contexto da realidade institucional sao importantes medidas para a cultura de seguranca ser solidificada.

Abstract: Objective: to present the perception and knowledge of Brazilian nursing nurses and academics regarding Nursing Care Systematization. Method: a descriptive study, carried out in the first half of 2018. Results: of the 596 respondents, 86% perceived Nursing Care Systematization as very important, but only 60.9% used it in their care practice. Its use was statistically associated with a higher level of training. Non-utilization was associated with the perception that it is irrelevant and with little knowledge on the Nursing Process, even in the face of recognition of its obligation. Among professionals who wish to learn more about the subject, understanding the application of the process, especially the planning step, is perceived as a necessity. Conclusion: the relevance perception of systematization and levels of knowledge of the professional/academic are directly related to the use or not of Nursing Care Systematization principles.

Abstract: Objective: to identify evidence of scientific production on hospital transition care provided to the elderly. Method: an integrative review, with publications search in the MEDLINE, PubMed, LILACS, BDENF, Index Psychology and SciELO databases, with keywords and Mesh terms: elderly, hospitalization, patient discharge, health of the elderly, and transitional care, between 2013 and 2017 in English, Portuguese and Spanish. The 14 selected articles analysis was carried out through exploratory and critical reading of titles, abstracts and results of the researches. Results: transitional care can prevent re-hospitalizations as they enable rehabilitation, promotion and cure of illnesses in the elderly. Final considerations: transitional care implies the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly person, requiring skilled health professionals who involve the family through accessible communication.

Abstract: Aim: To demonstrate the relationship between religious/spiritual coping and hope in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Method: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach performed in a reference outpatient clinic in Caruaru, PE, between August and October 2017. A total of 82 cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy were included in the study, using the brief religious/spiritual coping scale (RCOPE-Brief) and the Herth Hope Scale (HHS). Results: The sample presented mean positive RCOPE scores (3.03 ± 0.41) and the level of hope was considered high (42.7 points ± 3.67). Patients who had a high RCOPE score were found to have a higher mean of Herth’s level of hope (44.12 points). Conclusion: This study becomes relevant to nursing professionals by encouraging care that takes into account the patient’s spiritual dimension in order to stimulate positive mechanisms of religious coping and, consequently, raise the levels of hope.

Abstract: Objective: to analyze the publications on clinical simulation practices for education in Nursing in Intensive Care. Method: an integrative review carried out through LILACS, PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL and SciELO databases, of articles published from 2008 to 2017. Results: 29 articles were selected, of which 76% discuss the use of simulation in continuing education of nursing professionals, while the others describe their use for student education. There is a higher prevalence of studies with a level of evidence 6 (17), with 28 international publications. There was an increase in scientific production, with 16 articles published in the last three years. Conclusion: variables after simulation use, such as confidence, communication skills, efficiency in the identification of clinical worsening of patients, development of technical skills, teamwork and clinical decision-making, presented a significant improvement, demonstrating that this tool is effective in qualifying care for critical patients.

Abstract: Objective: to describe the elaboration of an educational technology to support orientations on peristomal skin care for ostomized patients. Method: the research had a qualitative approach and used the Action-Research method; data was collected through the Focus Group technique, with eight ostomized patients. The data was analyzed through Thematic Content analysis. Results: the analysis generated for categories: the educational material as source of knowledge; difficulties in the peristomal skin care; peristomal skin self-care; and educational technology for ostomized patients. Based on these data, the Educational Technology was elaborated. After its validation, it will contribute to the prevention of peristomal dermatitis. Final considerations: we highlight the contribution of educational technologies in the context of health education and the role of this resource to promote health, prevent complications, develop skills and promote patient autonomy and confidence.

Abstract: Objective: To assess the strategies used by the Nursing team to minimize medication errors in emergency units. Method: Integrative literature review in the PubMed, BDenf, Cochrane and LILACS databases. Timeless research, without language limitation, performed by peers. Articles published in full that answered the guiding question were included in research. Results: Educational strategies (conducting campaigns, elaborating explanatory manuals, creating a multidisciplinary committee involved in the prevention and reduction of adverse drug events); organizational (meetings, Deviance positive, creation of protocols and changes in the work process) and new technologies (implementation of prescription by computerized system, introduction of the unit doses and of the bar code in the administration of medicines) were evidenced in the studies with the purpose of minimizing medication errors in an emergency unit. Conclusion: The strategies identified were effective in minimizing medication errors in emergency units.

Abstract: Objective: to validate a booklet on dengue prevention in order to make it an educational technology to be used with the population. Method: methodological study, carried out with two groups of judges specialized in health and other areas. For data analysis, the calculation of Content Validity Index was carried out. Results: the booklet, in general, was considered valid by the expert judges, since it obtained an overall CVI of 70%. However, it has undergone a textual and aesthetic re-elaboration. The changes were based on the substitution of expressions, phrases, information additions and language adequacy. The illustrations were redone, adding clarity, expressiveness, movement, interaction and contextualization. Conclusion: the booklet is valid to be used for the population, with the purpose of informing, in a playful way, the forms of prevention and combat to mosquito transmitting dengue.

Abstract: Objective: To describe and analyze the national and international scientific production on Nursing care for the transgender or gender-variance population. Method: Integrative review of the literature, conducted throughout the Virtual Health Library, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Public Medline and Web of Science databases, without pre-established periods of time and using the descriptors "Transgender AND ‘Nursing Assistance'" and "Transgender AND ‘Nursing care'". Results: We included 11 articles, published between 2005 and 2016, broadly North American with only one Brazilian, so categorized: I- Fragility in the care of transgender people; II - Health of the transgender population: general and specific demands; III- Public health policies for transgender people. Transgender people have not found yet answers to their health demands; they are victims of prejudices and violence in services and seek care in extreme cases of sickness. Final considerations: Understanding their needs is primordial to build knowledge and practices that support nursing care.

Abstract: Objective: to develop the gerontological nursing care process among the elderly with Parkinson’s disease, aiming at the promotion of health through the creation of gerontotechnologies for fall prevention. Method: Convergent Care Research was used as a methodological route. Data were collected from February to October 2017, with the participation of nine elderly people with Parkinson’s disease. An educational booklet, a memory game called “nao cai istepo”, a memory game called “caiu de maduro” were developed through clinical evaluation through scales, recorded semi-structured interview and workshops. Results: the application of gerontotechnology resulted from the elderly in self-care, empowerment and knowledge through play, revealing interest in behavior change, independence and learning, as well as serving as a facilitator of care. Conclusion: the gerontotechnologies presented as a playful and innovative instrument for the nursing gerontological care process.

Abstract: Objective: To assess the quality of life and the burden of female caregivers. Method: Descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study carried out with 224 informal caregivers from March to July 2016. Three instruments were used: a characterization form for the caregiver, the WHOQOL-Bref questionnaire and the Zarit Burden Interview. The following tests were used: Cronbach’s Alpha, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman and Mann-Whitney. Results: The mean age of caregivers was 51.8 years with a standard deviation of 13.7. They were predominantly married, had a low income and low level of education, were first-degree relatives, had been providing care for one to five years and presented some pathology. The associations of quality of life that presented statistical significance were: income, marital status, number of people living with the caregiver and time of care. Conclusion: The burden was negatively correlated with QOL, that is, the greater the burden, the more impaired will be the life of these caregivers.

Abstract: Objective: To identify the knowledge produced on business entrepreneurship in Nursing. Method: Integrative literature review in the following databases: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), EMBASE, SCOPUS, Web of Science, PubMed, Medline, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF), Index Psychology and National Information Center of Medical Sciences of Cuba (CUMED). We included available studies in their totality in the period from 2007 to 2017. Results: 22 articles were included. The categories that emerged from the study are the following: Concepts of entrepreneurship in nursing, Profile of the entrepreneur nurse, Business Diversity, Business Management, Barriers to business entrepreneurship in nursing, Support to entrepreneurial nurses and Entrepreneurship in Nursing Undergraduate. Conclusion: There is a need to prepare nurses with adequate skills to increase the capacity to integrate into the labor market and to improve their own well-being and that of society.

Abstract: Objective: compare the quality of life (QOL) of aged residents in homes for aged people with or without symptoms of depression, and identify social, physical activity; leisure; health and basic activities of daily living (ADL) variables that correlate with QOL scores. Method: cross-sectional study conducted with 101 institutionalized aged. Multiple linear regression was used for data analysis. Results: symptoms of depression changed negatively the QOL in the domains: autonomy; present, past and future activities; social participation; intimacy and total score. Dependent aged presented lower QOL for the performance of ADL in the domains: autonomy; social participation and total score; dancing without limitation of movement; liking the residential and not presenting symptoms of depression were the variables that positively influenced the QOL of the aged. Conclusion: social and psychological support, good living conditions and stimulating assistance can improve the QOL of institutionalized elderlies.

Abstract: Objective: Identify and analyze the scientific literature on digital technologies for promotion of healthy eating habits in teenagers. Method: Integrative review of articles published in English and Spanish, available in full on four databases. The descriptors used were (Adolescent health) OR (Teen health) AND (Healthy diet) OR (Healthy eating) AND (Educational technology) OR (Instructional technology), respectively, from which eight articles were selected. Results: Among the studies included, three were digital games; two web-based nutrition interventions; two using online programs to prevent obesity; and one nutritional advice using multimedia. They showed experiences of digital technology and its effects on knowledge improvement and/or behavior of participants when developing healthy eating habits. Conclusion: Digital technologies are innovative tools present in the lives of teenagers, with the possibility of being used for education and promotion of healthy eating, contributing to the empowerment of the subject for his/her self-care.

Abstract: Objective: To define the criteria for the continuity of care to elderly people submitted to arthroplasty. Method: This is a qualitative study, inserted in the constructivist paradigm, whose methodological option fell on research-action. The participants were the health professionals of an orthopedic service and of the community care teams in the area of the hospital. Results: The different techniques allowed us to identify the difficulties in the safe transition from the hospital to the community. At this level, two categories of criteria for continuity of care emerged: criteria associated with the risk of ineffective management of the therapeutic regimen, and criteria associated with the knowledge and level of competence of the informal caregiver. Final Considerations: An elderly person undergoing arthroplasty (hip or knee) has functional alterations that affect their capacity for self-care and may lead to dependence, our findings allowed the design of an algorithm to facilitate clinical decision making and promote a safe hospital-community transition.

Abstract: Objective: To validate the content and appearance of an educational booklet about excess weight for adults with hypertension. Method: Methodological study in which an educational booklet was developed from theoretical material on hypertension, chronic diseases and obesity, as well as guiding points for the clinical practice of the nurse in the care of young adults with excess weight and based on the Transtheoretical Model. Twenty-one specialists participated in the validation of content and appearance, being 9 teachers, 7 technicians and 5 designers. Results: The Global Content Validity Index was 0.78 and the material was considered appropriate or superior. The experts suggested adjustments, incorporated into the material for print production of the final version. Conclusion: The educational booklet for people with hypertension and excess weight was considered valid regarding content and appearance.

Abstract: Objective: to identify workloads in nursing work and its association with nursing worker burnout. Method: a cross-sectional study, including 211 nursing workers from a university hospital, between July and August 2016. For the analysis, the descriptive statistics, Chi-Square Test, Fisher’s Exact Test and Mann Whitney U-Test were used. Results: the most evidenced loads were biological. A significant association was found between workloads and workers’ occupation, as well as a significant association between workloads and worker burnout. Burnout caused upper limb pain, neck and lumbar pain, lower limb pain, muscle spasm, lower limb edema, mental fatigue, headache, nervousness, and forgetfulness. Conclusion: workloads identification is a subsidy for the promotion of interventions that minimize the burnout generated to the health of the nursing worker.

Abstract: Objective: To investigate in the literature the relation of socioeconomic factors in the incidence of the disease and other outcomes related to leprosy. Method: Integrative review conducted in Lilacs, Medline, Scopus databases and SciELO online library with studies from 2000 to 2016. Results: 32 studies were included. Only studies that analyzed statistical associations of socioeconomic factors and outcomes related to leprosy were selected. Conclusion: Leprosy is greatly affected by the social context in which the patient is inserted, the chances of exposure to illness are the result of a set of not only individual aspects, but also of contexts or collective conditions. It is imperative for Nursing, as an essential part of the multiprofessional team entrusted with the care and surveillance of the disease, to recognize these factors to predict unfavorable outcomes and to develop new practices capable of reducing inequities.

Abstract: Objective: Assess the level of health literacy of adults, with and without hypertension, treated in three basic health units (UBS) in Picos, Piaui. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with 357 adults. Data were collected using a questionnaire with sociodemographic variables, and literacy was assessed by the Test of Functional Literacy in Adults. Descriptive analysis was performed followed by the association between literacy and exposure variables with Pearson’s chi-squared (X2) test and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Inadequate or marginal health literacy was found in three units investigated (71.5%; 77.8% and 85.2%);. Age and the years of schooling were factors associated with inadequate literacy in adults with hypertension (p<0.0001). Conclusion: Inadequate literacy was found in more than 70% of the hypertensive patients investigated. This finding reinforces the need to improve the self-care skills of hypertensive patients, especially the older ones and those with few years of schooling.
