TL;DR: In the Late Cambrian-Ordovician, Gondwana-derived microcontinents such as Kokchetav, Altai-Mongolian, Tuva-Mousolian and Barguzin were involved in intense accretion-collision processes in similar geodynamic settings on a vast territory of Central Asia as discussed by the authors.
138 citations
••
TL;DR: In this article, the results of electron probe microanalysis of several rock-forming minerals by wavelength-dispersive spectrometry (WDS) and EDS are compared, and the metrological characteristics of both methods are studied.
134 citations
••
TL;DR: The following structural elements have been recognized to constitute the tectonic demarcation of Central Asian Foldbelt: (1) The Kazakhstan-Baikal composite continent, its basement formed in Vendian-Cambrian as a result of Paleoasian oceanic crust, along with Precambrian microcontinents and Gondwana-type terranes, subduction beneath the southeastern margin of the Siberian continent (western margin in present-day coordinates).

••
TL;DR: In this article, the authors combine petrological-geochemical and thermomechanical modeling techniques to explain origin of primary magmas of both Maimecha-Kotui meimechites and the Gudchikhinskaya basalts of Norilsk region, which represent, respectively, the end and the beginning of flood magmatism in the Siberian Trap Province.

••
TL;DR: In this article, a 3D model for the zone of Siberia-Kazakhstan oblique collision for Permian time is presented, where the authors show that heat supply from slab break-off and/or delamination of lithosphere is insufficient to maintain large-scale mantle-crustal magmatism.
