Determination of Reference Values for NIST SRM 610–617 Glasses Following ISO Guidelines
Klaus Peter Jochum,Ulrike Weis,Brigitte Stoll,D. V. Kuzmin,Qichao Yang,Ingrid Raczek,Dorrit E. Jacob,Andreas Stracke,Karin Birbaum,Daniel A. Frick,Detlef Günther,Jacinta Enzweiler +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented new reference values for the NIST SRM 610-617 glasses following ISO guidelines and the International Association of Geoanalysts' protocol, and determined quantitatively possible element inhomogeneities using different test portion masses of 1, 0.1 and 0.02μg.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Amount of Recycled Crust in Sources of Mantle-Derived Melts
Alexander V. Sobolev,Albrecht W. Hofmann,D. V. Kuzmin,Gregory M. Yaxley,Nicholas Arndt,Sun-Lin Chung,Leonid V. Danyushevsky,Tim Elliott,Frederick A. Frey,Michael O. Garcia,Andrey A. Gurenko,Vadim S. Kamenetsky,Andrew C. Kerr,Nadezhda Krivolutskaya,Vladimir V. Matvienkov,Igor K. Nikogosian,Igor K. Nikogosian,Alexander Rocholl,I. A. Sigurdsson,N. M. Sushchevskaya,Mengist Teklay +20 more
TL;DR: Olivine phenocrysts' compositions record differences in the contributions of pyroxenite-derived melts in mid-ocean ridge basalts, which imply involvement of 2 to 20% (up to 28%) of recycled crust in mantle melting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Linking mantle plumes, large igneous provinces and environmental catastrophes
Stephan V. Sobolev,Alexander V. Sobolev,D. V. Kuzmin,Nadezhda Krivolutskaya,Alexey G. Petrunin,Nicholas Arndt,Viktor A. Radko,Yuri R. Vasiliev +7 more
TL;DR: This paper presented petrological evidence for a large amount of dense recycled oceanic crust in the head of the plume and developed a thermomechanical model that predicts no pre-magmatic uplift and requires no lithospheric extension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metal saturation in the upper mantle
Arno Rohrbach,Chris Ballhaus,Ute Golla-Schindler,Peter Ulmer,Vadim S. Kamenetsky,D. V. Kuzmin +5 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the oxidized nature of the upper mantle can no longer be regarded as being representative for the Earth’s upper mantle as a whole and instead that oxidation is a shallow phenomenon restricted to an upper veneer only about 250 km in thickness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Olivine in the Udachnaya-East Kimberlite (Yakutia, Russia): Types, Compositions and Origins
Vadim S. Kamenetsky,Maya B. Kamenetsky,Alexander V. Sobolev,Alexander V. Golovin,Sylvie Demouchy,Kevin Faure,Victor V. Sharygin,D. V. Kuzmin +7 more
TL;DR: Olivine is represented by two populations (olivine-I and groundmass olivine-II) differing in morphology, colour and grain size, and trapped mineral and melt inclusions.
