Catecholamine Metabolism: A Contemporary View with Implications for Physiology and Medicine

TL;DR: The large contribution of intraneuronal deamination to catecholamine turnover, and dependence of this on the vesicular-axoplasmic monoamine exchange process, helps explain how synthesis, release, metabolism, turnovers, and stores of catechlamines are regulated in a coordinated fashion during stress and in disease states.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent Advances in the Molecular Biology of Dopamine Receptors

TL;DR: Dopamine mediates these diverse effects through interactions with specific receptor proteins, and one of the challenges has been to characterizing the structure, function, and elucidate their properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

β-Adrenergic Bronchodilators

TL;DR: The possibility of adverse effects with regular use of β2-adrenergic agonists has been raised and the principal shortcoming of the previously available drugs of this class, their limited duration of action is overcome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vasoconstrictors and Local Anesthesia: A Review and Rationale for Use

TL;DR: A more rational philosophy for use of local anesthetics containing a vasoconstrictor has emerged from new data.
