Journal ArticleDOI

Contribution of the glutathione S-transferases to the mechanisms of resistance to aflatoxin B1.

TL;DR: Circumstantial evidence exists that amongst these mechanisms the glutathione S-transferases, through their ability to detoxify AFB1-8,9-epoxide, play a major role in determining the sensitivity of cells to AFB1.

Morphogenesis of Epithelial Neoplasms Induced in the Rat Kidney by Dimethylnitrosamine

G. C. Hard, +1 more
- 01 Oct 1971 -
TL;DR: It was concluded that at least some dimethylnitrosamine-induced renal adenocarcinomas take their origin from the first segment of proximal convoluted tubules, although at higher doses the distal tubules next to glomeruli were also invariably affected.
Book ChapterDOI

Biological effects of alkali-treated protein and lysinoalanine: an overview.

TL;DR: Alkali-treated proteins and lysinoalanine, an unusual amino acid formed in proteins during alkali treatment, have been shown to produce a renal alteration characterized by nuclear and cytoplasmic enlargement, with alterations in DNA synthesis, mitotsis and nucleoprotein.

Pathological changes in rats fed the crambe meal-glucosinolate hydrolytic products, 2s-1-cyano-2-hydroxy-3,4-epithiobutanes

TL;DR: S -1-Cyano-2-hydroxy-3,4-epithiobutanes isolated from the seed of Crambe abyssinica showed poor growth and increased serum levels of alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin and glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase, and ornithine carbamyl transferase and the severity and occurrence of renal and hepatic lesions were dose-dependent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pathological changes in rats fed the crambe meal-glucosinolate hydrolytic products, 2S-1-cyano-2-hydroxy-3,4-epithiobutanes (erythro and threo) for 90 days

TL;DR: In this paper, S -1-Cyano-2-hydroxy-3,4-epithiobutanes (erythro and threo) isolated from the seed of Crambe abyssinica, were fed to groups of six weanling rats at levels of 0, 75, 150 or 300 ppm in the diet for 90 days.

Toxicity and fluorescence properties of the aflatoxins.

TL;DR: Structural formulae have been proposed for aflatoxins B1 and G1 and the relationships between these compounds and B2 and G2 have been established, the double bond in the terminal dihydrofuran ring in the first two components having become hydrogenated in the others.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acute toxicity of aflatoxin b-1 in rats.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method to solve the problem of "missing links" in a graph.Figs 5-8Figs. 9-13Figs 1-4
Journal Article

Carcinogenesis in rats by aflatoxins B1, G1, and B2.

TL;DR: There was no sex difference in the incidence of liver tumors, but kidney tumors were seen only in males, and the liver tumors were almost all hepatocellular carcinomas.
