What Factors Are Associated With Recent Intimate Partner Violence? Findings From the WHO Multi-Country Study on Women's Health and Domestic Violence

The Risks Associated With Alcohol Use and Alcoholism

What Works to Prevent Partner Violence? An Evidence Overview.

Lori Heise
TL;DR: Heise as discussed by the authors reviewed the empirical evidence of what works in low and middle-income countries to prevent violence against women by their husbands and other male partners, focusing on prevention programmes rather than responses or services, and on research-based evaluations rather than insights from practice.

Intimate partner violence and alcohol use: Exploring the role of drinking in partner violence and its implications for intervention

TL;DR: A large and growing empirical literature reveals a robust relationship between alcohol use and the occurrence of intimate partner violence (IPV) as mentioned in this paper, however, the role of alcohol usage and intoxication in episodes of IPV, particularly with respect to alcohol's potential causal or facilitative function in occurrence of partner aggression, remains a source of much controversy and considerable debate.

Alcohol Consumption and Women's Vulnerability to Sexual Victimization: Can Reducing Women's Drinking Prevent Rape?

TL;DR: It is argued that given the strength of the association between heavy episodic drinking and sexual victimization among young women, prevention programs targeting drinking may prove more efficacious than programs targeting sexual vulnerability.

Understanding Violence Against Women

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a comprehensive overview of current knowledge and identify four areas with the greatest potential return from a research investment by increasing the understanding of and responding to domestic violence and rape: what interventions are designed to do, whom they are reaching, and how to reach the many victims who do not seek help.

Effects of alcohol on human aggression: an integrative research review
