In this paper, a new automatic parallel intermediate frequency (IF) vector substitution principle is implemented in a dual-channel microwave vector ratio meter, and a combination of analog adaptive filtering and digital data processing provides short measurement times.
Abstract
A new automatic parallel intermediate frequency (IF) vector substitution principle is implemented in a dual-channel microwave vector ratio meter. A greater than 120-dB dynamic range and 0.001-dB and 0.1° resolutions are provided. A combination of analog adaptive filtering and digital data processing provides short measurement times. Theoretical performance limitations are analyzed.

Attenuation and ratio—National standards

TL;DR: In this article, the most popular attenuation measurement techniques are: RF, IF, vector IF and AF substitution; power ratio, voltage ratio, time-interval ratio, and six-port methods; and a procedure that employs a Josephson junction in a superconducting ring.

National standards and standard measurement systems for impedance and reflection coefficient

TL;DR: A review of the current status of national impedance and reflection standards at RF and microwave frequencies is presented in this paper, where various proposals are examined for realizing a given characteristic impedance, or a calculable value of reflection coefficient, both in coaxial lines and in hollow rectangular waveguides.

Harmonic Mixing with an Anti-Parallel Diode Pair

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical and experimental investigation of the properties of an antiparallel diode pair is presented, which has the following unique and advantageous characteristics as a harmonic mixer: reduced conversion loss by suppressing fundamental mixing products; lower noise figure through suppression of local oscillator noise sidebands; suppression of direct video detection; inherent self protection against large peak inverse voltage burnout.

A Method of Calibrating Standard-Signal Generators and Radio-Frequency Attenuators

TL;DR: In this paper, the relative magnitudes of radio-frequency signals are measured by passing the signals through a linear heterodyne frequency-convertor and comparing the magnitudes with those of signals from a standard i.f. generator of known performance.
