Electrochemical studies of copper, copper-aluminium and copper-aluminium-silver alloys: Impedance results in 0.5M NaCl

TL;DR: In this paper, the electrochemical behavior of Cu, Cu-Al and Al-Al-Ag alloys in aqueous solutions of NaCl (0.5 M, pH = 3.00) was studied by means of voltammetric methods and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on the effect of a newly synthesized Schiff base compound from phenazone and vanillin on the corrosion of steel in 2 M HCl

TL;DR: In this paper, the corrosion behavior of steel in 2M HCl solution has been studied using weight loss, polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of inhibitive action of some quaternary N-heterocyclic compounds on the corrosion of Al–Cu alloy in hydrochloric acid

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of temperature on the inhibition efficiency at certain concentration of the studied compounds was investigated and discussed, showing that they have good pickling inhibitor's quality as they perform well even at relatively high temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aqueous extract of Rosmarinus officinalis L. as inhibitor of Al–Mg alloy corrosion in chloride solution

TL;DR: In this paper, the first neutral phenol subfraction of rosemary leaves was studied as corrosion inhibitor for the Al-2.5Mg alloy in a 3% NaCl solution at 25 ∘C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrodeposition of sol–gel films on Al for corrosion protection

TL;DR: In this article, a two-step method was used for electrodepositing sol-gel films, in which the monomer is first hydrolyzed in acidic solution and only then the negative potential is applied, which consumes protons and releases hydroxyl ions, thus enhancing the condensation.

A Point Defect Model for Anodic Passive Films I . Film Growth Kinetics

TL;DR: In this paper, a model based on the movement of point defects in an electrostatic field is proposed to interpret the growth behavior of a passive film on a metal surface, which results in a logarithmic growth law.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Point Defect Model for Anodic Passive Films: II . Chemical Breakdown and Pit Initiation

TL;DR: In this article, the point defect model was extended to account for chemical breakdown, and the dependence of the breakdown potential on halide concentration and incubation time breakdown overpotential relationships was investigated.

AC-impedance measurements on aluminium barrier type oxide films

TL;DR: In this article, the capacity of a polycrystalline pure aluminium/0.16 M NH 4 -tartrate at pH 5-7, in the potential range −900 mV ≤ E H ≤ 400 mV, is characterized by a high-frequency capacitive and a low-frequency inductive behaviour.

AC‐Impedance Measurements on Corroded Porous Aluminum Oxide Films

TL;DR: In this article, a simplified physical model of inhomogeneous aluminum oxide layers, including the formation of passive and active pits, was developed in order to explain experimental impedance data of technical samples prepared under different formation and sealing conditions.
