TLDR
In this article, a variant of Ho's algorithm that generates approximate realizations of specified dimension from approximate data is discussed. But it is not shown how to apply it to the problem of finite-dimensional linear systems.
Abstract

Principal component analysis in linear systems: Controllability, observability, and model reduction

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that principal component analysis (PCA) is a powerful tool for coping with structural instability in dynamic systems, and it is proposed that the first step in model reduction is to apply the mechanics of minimal realization using these working subspaces.

An eigensystem realization algorithm for modal parameter identification and model reduction

TL;DR: A new approach is introduced in conjunction with the singular value decomposition technique to derive the basic formulation of minimum order realization which is an extended version of the Ho-Kalman algorithm.

Stochastic System Identification for Operational Modal Analysis: A Review

TL;DR: In this article, a review of stochastic system identification methods that have been used to estimate the modal parameters of vibrating structures in operational conditions is presented. But it is not shown that many of these methods have an output-only counterpart.

Subspace model identification-Part 1. The output-error state-space model identification class of algorithms

M. Verhaegen
TL;DR: Two novel algorithms to realize a finite dimensional, linear time-invariant state-space model from input-output data are presented: an RQ factorization followed by a singular value decomposition and the solution of an overdetermined set of equations.

Ho's algorithm, commutative diagrams, and the uniqueness of minimal linear systems

TL;DR: There is an efficient construction for a minimal linear system having a given input-output behavior and it is proved that two minimal linear systems having the same input- Output behavior are linearly isomorphic.
