Ring rearrangements and reactivity of 3-((4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)-4-phenyl-1H-[1,5]benzodiazepin-2(3H)-one toward some nucleophiles
TL;DR: In this article, a mixture of 4-phenyl-1 H -[1,5]benzodiazepin-2(3 H )-one (1) with 3-formylchromone (2) was generated, which led to versatile heterocyclic substituted benzodiazepines at position 3, viz. pyrazole 8, isoxazole 9, pyridines 10 and 11, 1,3-dithiine 12, and 1, 3-thiazine 13 derivatives.

TL;DR: The title benzopyranones 1−3 gave the benzo[b]furan 7 and the benzos[b]-cyclopropa[e]pyrans 8 and 9 with chloroacetone in acetone containing anhydrous potassium carbonate and a catalytic amount of potassium iodide, respectively, but gave the 1-benzopyrans 10, 11 and 14 in dichloromethane in the presence of Brockman neutral alumina, respectively.
