Journal ArticleDOI

External morphology of some eggs of stored-product moths (Lepidoptera pyralidae, gelechiidae, tineidae)

TL;DR: Surface features of the chorion considered in conjunction with overall shape were adequate to separate all the species examined, and the most useful diagnostic characters included the pattern of ridges, carinae, and cells; the structure of the aeropyles; and the texture of theChorion on the cell discs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Eggshell fine structure of three lepidopteran pests: Cydia pomonella (L.) (Tortricidae) Heliothis virescens (Fabr.), and Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) (Noctuidae)

TL;DR: The eggshells of 3 moths, Cydia pomonella, Heliothis virescens, and Spodoptera littoralis, were investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopy and a basic scheme of the radial eggshell fine structure of ditrysian Lepidoptera is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A catalogue of the eggs of some Canadian Noctuidae (Lepidoptera).

TL;DR: Presented, with notes, are 124 plates of SEM illustrations of noctuid eggs representing 14 subfamilies of the Noctuidae: one species of Agaristinae, four species of Pantheinae and six species of Acronictinae.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosystematics of the genus Euxoa (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). XI. Mating discrimination between three closely related species of the declarata group

TL;DR: Tests for mating discrimination using the male-choice method show that ethological premating isolation between the three species is strong, and in nature the ethological barriers in combination with other factors such as slight differences in seasonal flight period and habitat preference probably ensure complete reproductive isolation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Chorionic Sculpture of the Eggs of Some Noctuinae (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) from Ukraine

TL;DR: The Chorionic Sculpture of the Eggs of Some Noctuinae (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) from Ukraine Descriptions and scanning electron microphotographs of the eggs of 10 species from 7 genera of the subfamily NoctUinae occurring in Ukraine are provided.

Disc electrophoresis – ii method and application to human serum proteins*

TL;DR: The technique of disc electrophoresis has been presented, including a discussion of the technical variables with special reference to the separation of protein fractions of normal human serum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosystematics of the genus euxoa (lepidoptera: noctuidae): v. rearing procedures, and life cycles of 36 species

C. F. Hinks, +1 more
TL;DR: A rearing method, based upon an artificial diet, has proved successful in establishing laboratory colonies of 36 species of the genus Euxoa, and methods for controlling disease, particularly by the use of antimicrobial agents are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosystematics in the genus euxoa (lepidoptera: noctuidae)

Anne Hudson
TL;DR: This paper is introduced by discussing taxonomic problems in the genus Euxoa and how certain different approaches might help to solve them, and it is revealed that the genusEuxoa provides an excellent opportunity to try them out.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosystematics of the genus euxoa (lepidoptera: noctuidae): iv. eggs of the subgenus euxoa hbn.

TL;DR: The eggs of 18 species of cutworms of the subgenus Euxoa Hubner are described and a key for separating some of them has been constructed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosystematics of the genus euxoa (lepidoptera: noctuidae): vii. eggs of the subgenera chorizagrotis, crassivesica, longivesica, orosagrotis, and pleonectopoda

E.H. Salkeld
TL;DR: In this paper, the eggs of several species of cutworms of the subgenera Chorizagrotis, Crassivesica, Longivesica and Orosagritis in the genus Euxoa Hubner are described.
