In this paper, the authors used tubes and annuli as the channel of the open thermosyphon, which consists of an unheated core and an externally heated tube.
Abstract
Experiments on a heat transfer coefficient and a critical heat flux in a vertical open thermosyphon are performed. Tubes and annuli are used as the channel of the open thermosyphon. The latter consists of an unheated core and an externally heated tube. Pure water, ethyl-alcohol, normal-hexane, carbon-tetrachloride and sodium oleate aqueous solution are used as test liquids. Data are obtained with different lengths and diameters of the tube, diameters of the core and entrance fluid temperature of the thermosyphon. The experimental results are correlated on the basis of dimensional analysis and experimental expressioins are presented.

Heat transfer correlations for small, uniformly heated liquid pools

TL;DR: In this paper, heat transfer data of numerous investigators for uniformly-heated liquid pools of water, ethanol, methanol, Dowtherm-A, R-11 and R-113 in small cylindrical enclosures were compiled, sorted, and correlated in the following heat transfer regimes: (a) natural convection; (b) nucleate boiling; and (c) combined convection).

Heat Transfer Correlations for Liquid Film in the Evaporator of Enclosed, Gravity-Assisted Thermosyphons

TL;DR: In this paper, heat transfer correlations were developed for the liquid film region in the evaporator section of closed, two-phase, gravity-assisted thermosyphons in the following regimes: (a) laminar convection, at low heat fluxes, (b) combined convection at intermediate heat flows, and (c) nucleate boiling, at high heat flows.

Heat-transfer crisis in low-temperature evaporative thermosiphons

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental investigation is performed for the heat transfer crisis in open and closed low-temperature thermosiphons, and the results show that the heat-transfer crisis occurs in both closed and open lowtemperature systems.
