TLDR
A review of the literature on carbon fiber and glass fibre hybrid reinforced plastics is presented in this article, where it is shown that the incorporation of both fibres into a single matrix sometimes leads to better properties than would be expected from consideration of the rule of mixtures.

Fibre hybridisation in polymer composites: a review

TL;DR: In this paper, a review aims to explain basic mechanisms of these hybrid effects and describes the state-of-the-art models to predict them, and an overview of the tensile, flexural, impact and fatigue properties of hybrid composites is presented to aid in optimal design of hybrid composite materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Review of Natural Fibers Used in Biocomposites: Plant, Animal and Regenerated Cellulose Fibers

TL;DR: In this paper, the reinforcement potential of natural fibers and their properties have been described in numerous papers and the chemical composition and properties of each of the fibers changes, which demands the detailed comparison of these fibers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Materials for Wind Turbine Blades: An Overview.

TL;DR: Apart from the traditional composites for wind turbine blades, natural composites, hybrid and nanoengineered composites are discussed and their testing and modelling approaches are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of the tensile, compressive, flexural and shear properties of hybrid fibre-reinforced plastics.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a survey of hybrid composites with a special emphasis on the basic mechanical properties of continuous-fibre composites and the models used to predict them.

Hybrid carbon and glass fibre composites

TL;DR: In this article, two types of hybrid composite materials, consisting of alternatively laminated layers of type 1 carbon fibres and glass fibres in an epoxy resin, have been made, with the alternate layers either unbonded or bonded together.

Impact properties of glass fibre/carbon fibre hybrid composites

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the charpy impact properties of mixed glass fiber/carbon fiber composites as a function of composition on notched and un-notched rod samples and found that the notched impact energy varies in a simple mixture-rule manner with proportions of grp and cfrp.
