TLDR
The theory of fluid mechanics can be profitably applied to chemistry by simply noting that many fluids are substances as discussed by the authors, and some of the most valuable parts of this theory may, for some purposes, also be regarded as a part of elementary physics completely independent of thermodynamics.
Abstract
The theory of fluid mechanics can be profitably applied to chemistry by simply noting that many fluids are substances. Certain equations of fluid mechanics then become the counterparts of equations in the theory of the chemical thermodynamics of systems at constant temperature. Consequently, some of the most valuable parts of this theory may, for some purposes, also be regarded as a part of elementary physics completely independent of thermodynamics.

Pressure drop of single phase flow in microchannels and its application in characterizing the apparent rheological property of fluids

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of flow rate, Reynolds number, and viscosity of fluids on the pressure drop of single phase flow in microchannels were investigated, and the measurements of pressure drop were compared with prediction models.

Material and Energy Efficiency Analysis of Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition of TiO2 Film

TL;DR: In this paper, the material and energy consumption of LPCVD of TiO2 thin-film process were analyzed under five different reaction conditions (623K, 500 Pa, 673K, 400 Pa; 673k, 300 Pa), and the results showed that the energy efficiency is low (less 0.1% in each condition) and increases with decreasing temperature and increasing pressure.

A model for the mass transfer coefficient in rotating packed bed

TL;DR: Based on the locus of ink on the well-rotating disc, a model for the mean residence time of liquid in a rotating packed bed, t = ϕ′ e (ctg(α2/2) − ctg (α1/2))ωu), is proposed in this article.

The Concept and the Contents of Process Fluid Mechanics

TL;DR: Process fluid mechanics can be divided into physical process fluid mechanics, chemical process fluids, and biological processes fluid mechanics as mentioned in this paper, and can be interpreted as fluid mechanics related to process industries and/or process engineering, or as the fluid mechanics used for the process industries or process engineering.

A New Model to Predict Average Pressure Difference of Liquid Droplet and Its Application in Gas Well

Haiquan Zhong, +2 more
- 11 Jul 2014 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a new model is established to predict the average differential pressure of droplets in high velocity gas streams in gas wells, and compared with the original one, the improved model showed that it is necessary to consider the adaptability, because the models have significant discrepancy in results, and different suitability for different well conditions.
