Computation of forced convection in slow flow through ducts and packed beds—III. Heat and mass transfer in a simple cubic array of spheres

TLDR
In this paper, temperature profiles and Nusselt numbers are calculated for slow three-dimensional flow through a simple cubic array of isothermal spheres using a collocation method in a coordinate system which permits the surface temperature to be prescribed directly.

Effect of fluid dispersion coefficients on particle-to-fluid mass transfer coefficients in packed beds. correlation of sherwood numbers

TL;DR: In this article, the published heat transfer data obtained from steady and nonsteady measurements are corrected for the axial fluid thermal dispersion coefficient values proposed by Wakao and Funazkri.

Slow flow past periodic arrays of cylinders with application to heat transfer

TL;DR: In this article, the average temperature difference between the bulk and the cylinders which are heated uniformly under conditions of small Reynolds and Peclet numbers is calculated for the slow flow past a square and a hexagonal array of cylinders using a somewhat nonconventional numerical method.

Low peclet number particle-to-fluid heat and mass transfer in packed beds

TL;DR: For low Peclet numbers most of the experimentally obtained particle-to-fluid heat and mass transfer coefficients in packed beds were found to be some orders of magnitude below the values predicted for a single sphere in cross flow as mentioned in this paper.

CFD study of fluid flow and wall heat transfer in a fixed bed of spheres

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between the local flow field and the local wall heat flux in a packed bed of spheres was investigated and it was shown that local heat transfer rates do not correlate statistically with local flow fields.

Computation of forced convection in slow flow through ducts and packed beds—II velocity profile in a simple cubic array of spheres

TL;DR: In this article, the velocity profile is calculated for slow three-dimensional flow through a simple cubic array of spheres, represented by stream function expansions which directly satisfy the equation of continuity and the no-slip conditions.

Computation of forced convection in slow flow through ducts and packed beds—I extensions of the graetz problem

TL;DR: In this article, a computational study of forced convection processes in ducts and packed beds at low Reynolds numbers has been made, and the results give a better understanding of these processes, especially for small Peclet numbers.
