TLDR
In this article, the design, assembly, and testing results for prototypes of an optical current transformer (CT) and a voltage-dividing-type voltage transformer (PD) were described.
Abstract
The authors describe the design(, assembly(, and testing results for prototypes of an optical current transformer (CT) and a voltage-dividing-type voltage transformer (PD) The optical CT and PD were developed to be applicable to three-phase enclosed-type 300 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and air-insulated 168 kV substation systems Test results for the newly developed optical CT and PD showed that their basic properties conform with JEC 1201, the Japanese standard for electric-power instrument transformers >

Pockels high-voltage measurement system

TL;DR: In this paper, a new optical high voltage measurement technique for applying to high voltage levels up to 400 kV in a wide bandwidth between DC to 30 MHz is developed, where a prototype of the optical voltage transformer is assembled using Pockels crystals in a multisegmented arrangement, a super luminescent diode (SLD) light source and a special optical fiber link.

Optical Current Transducers for Power Systems: A Review

H. Kirkam
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of the optical measurement of current and discuss the special problems posed by calibration of this kind of instrument, as well as a discussion of interfacing to an optical transducer.

Directly High-Voltage Measuring System Based on Pockels Effect

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-wavelength dual laser system is introduced to expand the measured voltage up to the least common multiple of Vπ for each light, and measured results for dc, ac, lightning impulse, and step voltages by the system are compared with the predicted values.

Optical High-Voltage Sensor Based on Fiber Bragg Grating and PZT Piezoelectric Ceramics

TL;DR: This paper relates to the development of a high-voltage sensor system using a PZT piezoelectric crystal as a transducer and a fiber Bragg grating as a sensor for an optical VT for a 13-kV class.

Experimental Comparison of Conventional and Optical Current Transformers

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of optical current transformers (OCTs) was compared with conventional CTs in a laboratory and field records were obtained and evaluated to verify that OCT systems can replace conventional instrument transformers.

Field Test of Fiber-Optic Voltage and Current Sensors Applied to Gas Insulated Substation

TL;DR: In this article, the fiber-optic voltage and current sensors applied for 84kV three phase type gas insulated substation (GIS) were tested in order to see the advantages of these sensors practically in adverse field condition.
