TLDR
Using residual activity technique, diffusion of carbon-14 in 304, 347, and 316 steels has been studied in the temperature range of 450-1200°C as mentioned in this paper, and the results indicate that the segregation of carbon is due to the preferential precipitation of Cr23C6 along the grain boundaries of stainless steels.About:

Colossal carbon supersaturation in austenitic stainless steels carburized at low temperature
TL;DR: A low-temperature (470 °C) gas-phase carburization treatment, developed by the Swagelok Company, increases the surface hardness of 316 austenitic stainless steels from ≈200 to ≈1000 HV25 and improves the corrosion resistance as discussed by the authors.

Corrosion of 316 stainless steel in high temperature molten Li2BeF4 (FLiBe) salt
TL;DR: In this paper, corrosion tests of 316 stainless steel were performed in the potential primary coolant, molten Li2BeF4 (FLiBe) at 700°C for an exposure duration up to 3000h.

The non-equilibrium segregation of boron during the recrystalization of Nb-treated HSLA steels
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of boron segregation on recrystallization was investigated in two Nb and two nb-free steels, and the results indicated that the addition of B to a Nb steel retards the recrallization of austenite after high temperature deformation to a significant degree.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tribological properties of stainless steels treated by colossal carbon supersaturation
TL;DR: In this article, the tribological properties of the colossal supersaturation carburized Type 316 stainless steel were investigated and benchmarked against non-treated steel, showing that carburised surfaces exhibited higher hardness, higher elastic modulus, and higher resistance to acid etching than non-treatment surfaces.

Enhanced Carbon Diffusion in Austenitic Stainless Steel Carburized at Low Temperature
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a calibrated scanning Auger microprobe (SAM) analysis of cross-sectional specimens under dynamic sputtering to determine the fraction-depth profile of carbon.

Diffusion of iron, nickel and cobalt in aluminum
TL;DR: In this paper, the diffusion coefficients of iron, nickel and cobalt in aluminum have been determined over a temperature range of 350 to 630°C, using radioactive tracers and the residual-activity technique.
