TLDR
The world's first clinical pregnancy resulting from DNA-based enrichment for X-bearing human spermatozoa, for prevention of X-linked hydrocephalus is reported, and this technique should be widely applicable to gender selection for the prevention of genetic disorders.Abstract:
We report the world's first clinical pregnancy resulting from DNA-based enrichment for X-bearing human spermatozoa, for prevention of X-linked hydrocephalus. Sperm separation was followed by embryo biopsy and nested multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for gender determination. Enriched populations of X- bearing spermatozoa ranging from 80 to 89% pure as determined by fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) resulted in in-vitro fertilization (IVF) rates indistinguishable from normal IVF procedures (65%). In two separate biopsy procedures, 7/9 and 15/16 of the resulting embryos were determined to be female by multiplex PCR. Embryo transfer resulted in a karyotypically normal female fetus. This technique should be widely applicable to gender selection for the prevention of genetic disordersread more

TL;DR: Based on ultrasonography, fetal sex at 60 to 70 d correlated perfectly with the sex of the sperm inseminated, demonstrating that foals of predetermined sex can be obtained following nonsurgical insemination with sexed spermatozoa.

Size differences between human X and Y spermatozoa and prefertilization diagnosis.
TL;DR: The pre-screening by micro-measurement of these specific haploid characteristics of individual spermatozoa in different donors, which may be closely related to their different genetic conditions (or diseases), may be important in human medicine and animal husbandry, especially in sperm prefertilization diagnosis.

Birth of lambs of a pre-determined sex after in vitro production of embryos using frozen-thawed sex-sorted and re-frozen-thawed ram spermatozoa.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that frozen-thawed ram spermatozoa can be sex-sorted for immediate or future use after re-cryopreservation and, in conjunction with IVF and embryo transfer, can be used to efficiently produce offspring of pre-determined sex.
