Drift characteristics of miniscrews and molars for anchorage under orthodontic force: 3-dimensional computed tomography registration evaluation

TLDR
The results indicated that the miniscrews and the maxillary first molars were mesially displaced under orthodontic loading, suggesting that a mesial site for minISCrews might be a better choice for long-term stability.

Effect of large incisor retraction on upper airway morphology in adult bimaxillary protrusion patients

TL;DR: Large incisor retraction leads to narrowing of the upper airway in adult bimaxillary protrusion patients, and the largest change in the cross-sectional area is always noted in the hypopharynx.

CBCT Evaluation of the Upper Airway Morphological Changes in Growing Patients of Class II Division 1 Malocclusion with Mandibular Retrusion Using Twin Block Appliance: A Comparative Research

TL;DR: The upper airway of growing patients with Class II division 1 malocclusion and mandibular retrusion compared with untreated Class II patients showed a significant enlargement in the oropharynx and hypopharynx, and the hyoid bone moved to an anterior position after TB treatment.

Systematic review of mini-implant displacement under orthodontic loading

TL;DR: Primary displacement did not reach a clinically significant level, however, clinicians can expect relevant secondary displacement in the direction of force, and decentralized insertion within the inter-radicular space, away from force direction, might be favourable.

Effectiveness of TAD-anchored maxillary protraction in late mixed dentition.

TL;DR: According to the present results, TAD-anchored MP might have a greater maxillary advancement effect and might reduce skeletal and dental side effects, compared with tooth-anchoring MP.

Efficacy of orthodontic mini implants for en masse retraction in the maxilla: a systematic review and meta-analysis

TL;DR: The meta-analysis revealed that maximum anchorage en masse retraction can be achieved by orthodontic mini implants and direct anchorage; however, the ideal implant location (palate versus alveolar ridge) and the beneficial effect of direct over indirect anchorage needs to be further evaluated.

Medical image registration

TL;DR: Applications of image registration include combining images of the same subject from different modalities, aligning temporal sequences of images to compensate for motion of the subject between scans, image guidance during interventions and aligning images from multiple subjects in cohort studies.

Factors associated with the stability of titanium screws placed in the posterior region for orthodontic anchorage

TL;DR: The diameter of a screw of 1.0 mm or less, inflammation of the peri-implant tissue, and a high mandibular plane angle, were associated with the mobility of the titanium screw placed into the buccal alveolar bone of the posterior region for orthodontic anchorage.

Wolff's Law and bone's structural adaptations to mechanical usage: an overview for clinicians

TL;DR: Basic Multicellular Unit-based bone remodeling can lead to the removal or conservation of bone, but cannot add to it and hypervigorous MU turns this modeling on, and its architectural effects then lower typical peak bone strains caused by future loads of the same kind to a threshold range.

Miniscrews as orthodontic anchorage: a preliminary report.

TL;DR: A miniscrew is presented as alternative anchorage, and possible locations for placement are discussed, based on studies of bone quality in dry skulls.
