Journal ArticleDOI
Histologic multifocality of Tis, T1-2 breast carcinomas. Implications for clinical trials of breast-conserving surgery.
TL;DR: The expected rates of local recurrences after breast‐conserving surgical procedures relative to the extensiveness of the excision are estimated and the possible impact of postoperative local radiation therapy on the rates of expected local recurrence is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentiation of the mammary gland and susceptibility to carcinogenesis
TL;DR: Induction of mammary cancer in rats by administration of the chemical carcinogen 7, 12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene reveals that the same factors influencing human breast cancer risk also affect the susceptibility of the rat mammary gland to the chemicalcar carcinogen.
Book ChapterDOI
Comparative study of human and rat mammary tumorigenesis.
Jose Russo,Barry A. Gusterson,Adrianne E. Rogers,Irma H. Russo,Sefton R. Wellings,Matthew J. Van Zwieten +5 more
TL;DR: Lower risk of breast cancer has been reported in women that have had an early full-term pregnancy and among all of these factors, the development of Breast cancer is influenced by the reproductive history of the individual.

Approaches to Prevention of Epithelial Cancer during the Preneoplastic Period
TL;DR: Mechanism whereby the progression of preneoplastic lesions can be stabilized, arrested, or reversed are discussed and pharmacological enhancement of such mechanisms by synthetic vitamin A analogs (retinoids) offers a possible means for prevention of invasive epithelial cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of the results of long‐term follow‐up for atypical intraductal hyperplasia and intraductal hyperplasia of the breast
TL;DR: The presence of atypia in epithelial hyperplasia is a significant factor in increasing the likelihood of the development of subsequent invasive carcinoma, particularly in patients with AIDH.

Bilateral primary breast cancers. A prospective clinicopathological study
Guy F. Robbins,John W. Berg +1 more
TL;DR: The early years after the first mastectomy are the primary time for second cancers to appear, and second cancers acting in conjuction with recurrence of the first cancer almost halved the survival expected.
Journal ArticleDOI
The differential diagnosis of papillary tumors of the breast
Journal ArticleDOI
The study of mammary carcinoma by mammography and whole organ sectioning. Early observations.
TL;DR: The skin thickening which is often noted mammographically in association with carcinoma has been shown to be the result of an increase in dermal collagen, whether or not dilatation of dermal lymphatics is also present.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ lobular carcinoma. A prospective follow-up study indicating cumulative patient risks.
TL;DR: A follow-up study of 50 patients with in situ lobular carcinoma, treated in most instances by local excision, reveals the following subsequent cumulative risk of infiltration: 8% after five years, 15% after ten years, 27% after 15 years, and 35% after 20 years.
