Active‐Filler‐Controlled Pyrolysis of Preceramic Polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, the filler particles react with carbon from the polymer precursor or nitrogen from the reaction gas atmosphere to form new (oxy) carbide or (oxy)-nitride phases embedded in a nanocrystalline Si-O-C(-N) matrix.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymeric and ceramic silicon-based coatings – a review

TL;DR: The main aspects of the use of silicon polymers for coatings are elucidated in this paper, and the advantages and disadvantages of these materials, and the processing methods developed are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for a silicon oxycarbide phase in the Nicalon silicon carbide fibre

TL;DR: In this paper, the Nicalon silicon carbide fibre has been studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and the presence of a new supplementary phase which is attributed to an intermediate silicon oxycarbide phase was found to participate in very appreciable proportions to the composition of the fibre.
Journal ArticleDOI

Si-C-N ceramics with a high microstructural stability elaborated from the pyrolysis of new polycarbosilazane precursors

TL;DR: In this article, the pyrolysis of polycarbosilazane copolymers was investigated up to 1600 °C by analyses performed on the solids (elemental analysis; EPMA; TGA, density; 1H, 13C and 29Si solid state NMR, i.r.

Continuous silicon carbide fiber of high tensile strength

TL;DR: In this article, a continuous silicon carbide fiber of high-tensile strength (about 350 Kg/mm2) was synthesized by means of the heat-treatment of organosilicon polymer obtained from dodecamethylcyclohexasilane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of continuous silicon carbide fibre with high tensile strength and high Young's modulus

TL;DR: In this article, the structure of polycarbosilane is concluded to be similar to that of polysilapropylene by the measurements of i.r. spectra, NMR spectra and chemical analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of Continuous Sic Fibers with High Tensile Strength

TL;DR: Continuous Sic fibers with a tensile strength of 350 kg/mm2 and a Young's modulus of 30 tons/mm 2 were synthesized from an organometallic polymer as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of continuous silicon carbide fibre with high tensile strength and high Young's modulus: Part 1 Synthesis of polycarbosilane as precursor

TL;DR: In this paper, the structure of polycarbosilane is concluded to be similar to that of polysilapropylene by the measurements of i.r. spectra, NMR spectra and chemical analyses.
