Correlating equations for free convection heat transfer from horizontal isothermal cylinders set in a vertical array

TL;DR: In this article, a specifically developed computer-code based on the SIMPLE-C algorithm is used for the solution of the mass, momentum and energy transfer governing equations for steady laminar free convection from flat vertical arrays of equally-spaced, horizontal isothermal cylinders set in free air.
Journal ArticleDOI

Natural convection heat transfer from two horizontal cylinders

TL;DR: In this paper, the surface heat transfer from a single horizontal cylinder and a pair of vertically aligned horizon-aligned cylinders is investigated for Rayleigh numbers of 2 -10 6, 4 10 6, 6 -106 and 6 - 10 6 and a range of cylinder spacings of 1.5, 2 and 3 diameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Natural convection heat transfer from helicoidal pipes

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental investigation on natural convection heat transfer in air from the outer surface of constant heat flux helicoidal pipes with vertical and horizontal orientations was performed and the temperatures along the flow direction and peripheral direction of the tube wall were measured.
Journal ArticleDOI

Free convection heat transfer from arrays of vertically separated horizontal cylinders at low Rayleigh numbers

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of Rayleigh number and cylinder to cylinder separation distance on the heat transfer behavior of horizontal isothermal cylinders in vertical arrays of two to eight, at low Rayleigh numbers, was investigated, experimentally.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental investigation on performance of annular fins on a horizontal cylinder in free convection heat transfer

TL;DR: In this article, a set of 18 sets of annular fin arrays mounted on a horizontal cylinder of 24.9mm diameter in atmospheric conditions was experimentally investigated and it was shown that the convection heat transfer rate from the fin arrays depends on fin diameter, fin spacing and base-to-ambient temperature difference.
