Effects of Waterproof Additives on Hygroscopic Performance of Preservative-treated Wood

Yan Ting

TLDR
Waterproofing additives, one imported and one domestic, were added to commonly-used CCA and ACQ wood preservatives to improve the water resistance as discussed by the authors, but the authors found that both waterproofing additives could decrease water absorption, but increased wood shrinkage.
Abstract
Waterproofing additives, one imported and one domestic, were added to commonly-used CCA and ACQ wood preservatives to improve the water resistance. The authors found that both waterproofing additives could decrease water absorption, but increased wood shrinkage. It was also noticed that the wood swelling remained about the same and preservative impregnability slightly decreased.

Moisture Adsorption and Hygroexpansion of Paraffin Wax Emulsion-treated Southern Pine (Pinus spp.)

TL;DR: In this article, the paraffin wax emulsion treatments could reduce both equilibrium moisture content and adsorption rate and also improved dimensional stability, as indicated by estimation of the humidity expansion coefficient and moisture expansion coefficient.

Decay of Populus cathay Treated with Paraffin Wax Emulsion and Copper Azole Compound

TL;DR: In this article, a full-cell process was applied to impregnate the sapwood of poplar (Populus cathay) at paraffin wax emulsion concentrations of 0.5% and 2.0%, and their four compound systems, respectively.

Evaluation of the Dimensional Stability and Leaching Performance of ACQ/Wax Treated Southern Pine

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of wax concentrations in ACQ-treated southern pine on its dimensional stability and copper leaching performance were investigated, and the results showed that samples with a higher percentage of wax had higher resistance to water swelling and shrinkage.
