TLDR
In this article, two new models of the facility layout problem are presented: linear continuous with absolute values in the objective function and constraints, and linear mixed integer, and two of the formulations model the layout problem with facilities of unequal area.

Multiple-attribute decision making methods for plant layout design problem

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the use of MADM approaches in solving a layout design problem and illustrated the proposed methodology is illustrated through a practical application from an IC packaging company, where two methods are proposed in solving the case study problem: Technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and fuzzy TOPSIS.

Berth scheduling by simulated annealing

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixed-integer-linear-programming (MIP) model was formulated for the berth-scheduling problem and a simulated annealing algorithm was applied to the berth scheduling problem to find near-optimal solutions.

The Quadratic Assignment Problem

TL;DR: In this article, the equivalence of the Koopmans-beckmann problem to a linear assignment problem with certain additional constraints is demonstrated, and a method for calculating a lower bound on the cost function is presented, and this forms the basis for an algorithm to determine optimal solutions.
