El estudio de las redes personales: contribuciones, métodos y perspectivas

Abstract
En este trabajo se pretende ofrecer un estado de la cuestion del campo de estudio de las redes personales. En la primera parte se realiza una revision de la literatura existente, dividida en cuatro lineas o tradiciones: la Escuela de Manchester, los Estudios de Comunidad, la Estimacion de redes personales y el Capital Social. En la segunda parte se intenta mostrar de forma sistematica el conjunto de propuestas realizadas hasta el momento sobre las caracteristicas, estructura, composicion y dinamica de las redes personales. En la tercera parte se recogen los diferentes sesgos que se producen en el recuerdo de personas y relaciones sociales, los cuales hay que tener en cuenta a la hora de valorar los resultados de los diferentes estudios. Por ultimo, en este trabajo se pretende contribuir, desde el estudio de las redes personales, a una linea de investigacion orientada a estudiar fenomenos sociales de rango «intermedio» o «meso» es decir, fenomenos en los que se presentan simultaneamente interacciones individuales, instituciones y estructuras sociales observables empiricamente. The aim of this paper is to provide a state-of-the-art about the personal networks scientific field. The paper is divided in four parts. In the first part the literature is reviewed and classified in four traditions or Schools: the Manchester School, the Community Studies, the Personal Network estimation and the Social Capital. In the second part, the main contributions of those studies are summarized in a systematic way. The third part is devoted to the study of the bias involved in recalling personal relationships. Finally, we try to contribute to the study of meso structures or social phenomena where individual interactions, institutions and social structures are empirically observed.
