Bioinorganic chemistry of pterin-containing molybdenum and tungsten enzymes

TL;DR: The unexpected discovery that several hyperthermophilic organisms possess pterin-containing tungsten enzymes promises to stimulate the development of oxo-thio-tungsten chemistry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative Kinetics of Oxo Transfer to Substrate Mediated by Bis(dithiolene)dioxomolybdenum and -tungsten Complexes

TL;DR: In this paper, the relative rates of oxygen atom (oxo) transfer to substrate in second-order reactions [MO2(mnt)2]2- + (RO)3-nR‘nP → [MO 2[mnt]2]-2]-3nR'nPO in DMF solution (M = Mo, W; n = 0, R = Me, R‘ = Ph, n = 1, R= Et, R' = Me).
Journal ArticleDOI

cis-Dioxo-tungsten(VI) and -molybdenum(VI) complexes with N2O2 tetradentate ligands: synthesis, structure, electrochemistry and oxo-transfer properties

TL;DR: In this paper, a single crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the metal centre exhibits distorted octahedral co-ordination with cis-dioxo ligands and showed that these high-valent oxo complexes are active toward oxygen atom transfer reactions and can catalyse the oxidation of benzoin with dmso.
Journal ArticleDOI

Olefin Epoxidation by H2O2/MeCN Catalysed by Cyclopentadienyloxidotungsten(VI) and Molybdenum(VI) Complexes: Experiments and Computations

TL;DR: The epoxidation of ethylene as a model olefin, catalysed by the [Cp*MO(2)Cl] systems, has been investigated by DFT calculations with the use of the conductor-like polarisable continuum model (CPCM) and reproduces well the higher catalytic activity of the W species.
