TLDR
The colour analysis showed a high L* value and the chromatic co-ordinates were in the yellow-greenish spectrum, and the use of isopropyl alcohol is recommended in ratio 1:3, since its commercial value is lower in comparison with ethanol.

Determination of the monosaccharide composition in mucilage of Opuntia ficus indica by HPLC-ESI-MS - validation of the sample preparation and the analytical method

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used HPLC-ESI-MS to determine the concentration of the main monosaccharides (xylose, glucose, galactose, arabinose, xylose- and rhamnose) in Opuntia ficus indica mucilage.

Potencial de mucilagem do cacto xique-xique como tratamento superficial para blocos de terra comprimida

TL;DR: In this paper, a eficienciado uso da mucilagem do cacto xique-xique (Pilosocereusgounellei) como tratamento superficial for paredes com blocos de terra comprimida (BTC) was avalia.

Green solid-liquid extraction of cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) cladode dietary fibers. I- optimization, pilot-scale production, and characterization.

TL;DR: In this paper , an optimization of an environment friendly extraction method of cactus (Opuntia ficus indica) cladode dietary fibers was conducted, where the basic objective of this optimization was to maximize fiber yield using hot water as an extraction eco-solvent.

Reporting of Objective Color Measurements

Raymond G. McGuire
- 01 Dec 1992 -
TL;DR: The analysis of color is frequently an important consideration when determining the efficacy of a variety of postharvest treatments, and many researchers continue to analyze this characteristic inappropriately.

Rheological properties of the mucilage gum (Opuntia ficus indica)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the rheological properties of aqueous solutions of the mucilage isolated from Opuntia ficus indica and found that the viscosity was dependent on ionic strength, as in the case of polyelectrolytes.

Structure and morphology of cladodes and spines of Opuntia ficus-indica. Cellulose extraction and characterisation

TL;DR: It was observed that the tensile modulus decreases as the moisture content increases and the mechanical properties of these natural spines were investigated by tensile tests at various conditioning relative humidities.
