Field‐type acoustic wattmeter

TLDR
The field-type acoustic wattmeter as mentioned in this paper is a powerful tool for measuring the sound power output of speakers, the noise power of machines in place under operating conditions, the sound absorption of walls, ceilings, and floors, the performance of sound-reproducing systems in rooms, and the sound field in rooms.
Abstract
The field‐type acoustic wattmeter [Olson, U.S. Patent 1,892,644 (1932)] consists of a velocity microphone responding to the particle velocity in a sound wave, a pressure microphone responding to the sound pressure in a sound wave, and an electronic means for combining the outputs of the microphones so the ultimate output of the system indicates the acoustic energy flow in a sound field. The electronic system is all solid state. The field‐type acoustic wattmeter is a useful and powerful tool for measuring the sound power output of loudspeakers, the noise power output of machines in place under operating conditions, the sound absorption of walls, ceilings, and floors, the performance of sound‐reproducing systems in rooms, the sound field in rooms, etc.

Measurement of sound intensity

TL;DR: In this paper, a method is formulated for sound intensity measurement in a non-dispersive medium, and it is shown that two microhpones are necessary for obtaining the components of the intensity vector at a given point.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fundamentals of the direct measurement of sound intensity and practical applications

TL;DR: A discussion of the main applications of sound intensity measurements: sound power determination, noise source identification, and transmission loss measurements and a discussion of ISO and ANSI intensity related standards and relevant references.
Journal ArticleDOI

Systematic measurement errors with two microphone sound intensity meters

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that phase distortions induced by measuring equipment affects the intensity meter frequency response and its directivity pattern. And specific phase mismatch with the second method render intensity measurements sensitive to reactive fields.
ReportDOI

Noise emission measurements for regulatory purposes

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the measurement needs attendant to regulation of the noise generated and emitted by commercial products is given, focusing primarily on measurement procedures for use in conjunction with point-of-sale regulations as opposed to regulations on the noise which a source actually emits when in operation.

3D audio technologies : applications to sound capture, post-production and listener perception

TL;DR: In this paper, a tesis trata varios aspectos relacionados with el audio 3D: in la parte de captacion, presentamos un estudio sobre las caracteristicas de microfonos tetraedricos and una solucion for obtener las componentes Ambisonics del segundo orden usando un pequeno numero de transductores del primer orden.
